CALDWELL, NJ (Nov. 2, 2024) - Georgian Court Volleyball picked up another three-set sweep in their final road game of the 2024 regular season. They handedly defeated Caldwell 25-16, 25-21, 25-14. The win puts Georgian Court back to five game over .500 at 14-9 and 10-2 in CACC play.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court dominated from the start hitting .465 for the match while Caldwell was barely over .100 at .106.
• GCU hit better than .500 in two of the three sets.
• Defensively, GCU scooped 30 digs to the Cougars 12.
• They landed 45 kills, nearly three times as Caldwell's 18.
Set 1
• Georgian Court scored the first four points of the match. Their very first point was a block. It was their only one of the match.
• That was followed by a service ace and back-to-back
Chelsea Ross kills.
• The Lions never trailed in the set and another Ross kill finished things off, 25-16.
Set 2
• Tied at one, Georgian Court scored five straight helped out by kills from
Nylene Mateo and Ross.
Carmen Rivera also put down a service aces.
• The Cougars though responded with a 5-1 run and took their first lead of the match, 11-10.
• Caldwell still led 17-15 when kills from
Amiyah Woods and
Nylene Mateo tied things at 17-all.
• Mateo then retook the lead with consecutive service aces.Â
• Caldwell was able to retie at 20, but the Lions scored five of the final six points.
Emily Hauptvogel got the final kill and put the Lions up 2-0 with a 25-21 win.
Set 3
• Georgian Court started the third set on a 6-2 run.
Giorgia Cappelletti had two kills and two service aces.
• Leading 9-6, GCU scored 11 straight points with eight kills.
• Despite a 5-1 Cougar run, GCU was able to cruise to a 25-14 set three win and a sweep of Caldwell.

• The Lions .465 hitting percentage is a season-high.
• Georgian Court is now 18-6 all-time against Caldwell. It's their second consecutive sweep.
• The one block is the fewest GCU has had all season.Â
• Georgian Court finished the year 7-5 on the road this season. It's their best road record since 2021 when they went 8-5.
