PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Nov. 8, 2024) - Georgian Court finished the 2024 regular season with a bit of a sour taste in their mouth. Winners of three straight, the Lions fell 2-0 Friday at Chestnut Hill to close out the 2024 regular season. The loss puts GCU at 11-5-2 overall as they finish 8-3 in CACC play.
How it Happened
• In a game that didn't feature many shots, Georgian Court led in total shots 12-11 and shots on goal 8-7.
• The Lions offensive pressure also led to 10 corner kicks while surrendering just three.
• Foul numbers were pretty high with Chestnut Hill called for 16 and the Lions 14.
• The whistles were out early as GCU was called for five fouls in the first 11 minutes.
• The Lions eventually righted the ship and were on offense for a bit, getting shots from
Seanna Boan and
Chelsea Lavezzo that Ellie Stratz made stops on.
• In the 24th minute, it was Chestnut Hill that broke through scoring as Abby Galazka beat Delanie Wilkinson for the game's first tally.
• The Lions didn't get off another shot the rest of the half and the Griffins held that 1-0 lead after the first 45.
• In the second half, the Lions really started to pepper the net, putting anything they could towards the goal.
• While it led to a couple of chances, it didn't change the score at all.
• With less than two minutes to play, the Griffins hit the dagger as Galazka scored again to put the game away, 2-0.

• Despite the loss, Georgian Court will still be hosting a home CACC quarterfinal round match this upcoming Monday as they finished in fourth place in the regular season standings.
• This is the Lions first loss on the road at Chestnut Hill in nine games. They fall to 17-3 all-time against the Griffins.
• Georgian Court's eight CACC wins are the most since they won nine during the 2019 season.
