Georgian Court Acrobatics and Tumbling Successfully Completes First Ever Meet

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 17, 2024) - History was made Saturday afternoon as Georgian Court University took part in it's first ever Acrobatics and Tumbling meet. The Lions successfully debuted competing at East Stroudsburg University. Despite the 224.85-173.37 loss, it was undoubtedly a day to remember for the Lions.

The meet started with the compulsory event where Georgian Court totaled 23.45 out of a possible 40 points. The Warriors scored 30.75. GCU did very well in the toss heat, picking up 9.25 points and the pyramid heat with 8.45 points. 

Moving over to the Acro event, the Lions totaled 17.20 on a start value of 25.70. Their highest-scoring heat out of the three acro heats was the 5 element, where the Lions scored 6.80. The Warriors picked up 20.95 points in the Acro event.

In the pyramid, Georgian Court entered with a start value of 29.20 and finished with a score of 20.30. Georgian Court scored a 7.0 in the synchronized pyramid. ESU added 24.3 points to their total and led 76.00-60.95 at halftime.

The Lions came out in the second half with the toss. This event saw the fewest point-deductions for the Lions. GCU totaled 21.85 points including scoring 8.20 out of a 9.0 start value in the 450 Salto. They added 7.75 in the synchronized toss and 5.90 in the open toss. East Stroudsburg picked up 24.10 points.

The Lions also did well in the Tumbling event. Entering with a start value of 48.20, Georgian Court scored 40.2. They had two events scoring more than 8.0 points, the Aerial Pass and the 6-Element Pass. In the Open Pass, GCU scored 7.225 after a start value of 7.50. The Warriors were judged to score 44.65 points in the Tumbling event.

The final event of the afternoon was the team event. The Lions had a start value of 76.87 and scored 50.37. ESU's start value was 98.7 and scored 80.10.

Georgian Court will host their first ever meet next Friday, Feb. 23 as they take on Kutztown starting at 6 p.m.
