Pace Setters
• Pace enjoyed a magical season in 2023 that culminated in a national title. Even though the didn't win the NE10 Tournament, Pace ripped through nationals and defeated West Chester in the finals 19-9.
• The Setters set off on their campaign to repeat earlier this week with a 17-7 win over Roberts Wesleyan, another team receiving votes in the IWLCA top-25.
• A year ago, Pace's defense set them apart allowing just 182 goals in 23 games, less than eight per game.
• Pace won the national championship with a freshman between the pipes and goaltender Samantha Tanguay is back for just her sophomore season.
• The offense, which scored 421 goals and 603 points last year, lost their top-three point scorers. Angelina Porcello who scored 65 goals and 84 points in 2023 is the leading returner.
• Porcello was also the team leader with 142 draw controls last season 61 ground balls and 52 caused turnovers and was named the IWLCA National Player of the Year.
• In the season opener, Porcello totaled seven points and seven draw controls.
• Maddie Schubert and Sydney Juvelier each scored four goals.
• Pace limited penalties in that first game, taking just three cards while forcing Roberts Wesleyan into committing 10.
