LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 12, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse rebounded nicely from a crushing defeat over the weekend. They came out determined to wipe that taste out of their mouths and did just that with a 17-4 drubbing of D'Youville. The win evens up the Lions record at 4-4 before the start of conference play.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court was on offense much of the afternoon. They took 29 shots with 17 going for goals. D'Youville totaled 19 shots on the afternoon.
• The Lions won 15 of 26 draw controls to help gain possession. They were also 20-22 on clears while D'Youville was 18-21.Â
• GCU turned the ball over 15 times and D'Youville 13. The Saints also picked up 22 ground balls and the Lions 19.
• GCU made 3-5 free position shots and the Saints 2-8.Â
• The Saints took seven cards and the Lions scored three power play goals.Â
First Quarter
• It took more than four minutes for either team to get on the board.
Alyssa Hawley finally broke the tie with a free-position goal.
• Just 39 seconds later, D'Youville tied it up with a free-position shot of their own.
• Another free-position goal, this time from
Bryleigh Tejchman at the 9:34 mark gave the Lions the lead and started a stretch of 14 straight GCU goals.
• Georgian Court finished out the first scoring four more times. Tejchman added another,
Remi Reinhardt tallied two and
Isabel Raimondi added one.
Second Quarter
• The Lions outscored the Saints 5-0 in the second quarter. Reinhardt found Raimondi and the Lions scored with the extra-attacker 54 seconds into the frame.
• Reinhardt and Tejchman each put another on the board before
Kate Clemente scored her first of the season with 5:19 to go before the half.
• The Lions made it a 10-goal game with 4:51 left as
Riley O'Connor scored her first of the afternoon.
• Now playing with the running clock, GCU went into the half up 10, 11-1.
Third Quarter
• Another shutout period for
Natalie Moradian and the Lions.Â
• GCU scored three more times with goals from O'Connor, Raimondi and
Gianna Nardini.
Fourth Quarter
• Tejchman made it five for the afternoon less than 90 seconds into the fourth.
• D'Youville scored for the first time since the first period. They scored three in the final 10:25 of the game.
• Reinhardt and O'Connor each added goals to finish off the Saints, 17-4.

Remi Reinhardt led all scorers with six points including four goals and two assists. She also had six draw controls and three ground balls.

Isabel Raimondi picked up five points with three goals and two assists.

Riley O'Connor scored three goals while adding an assist.

Kelsey Naclerio caused three turnovers and scooped two ground balls.Â

• Madison Handley scored three of the four goals.
• Madison Buck scored the other.
• Sydney Gordan picked up an assist and four ground balls.
• Sam Newlin won four draws, caused two turnovers and finished with five ground balls.
News and Notes
• The Lions move to 2-0 all-time against D'Youville.
• This is the second straight game GCU has scored 17 goals. The 13-goal margin of victory is their largest this season.
• The 4:04 it took for either team to score was the longest a GCU game has remained scoreless this season.
• Georgian Court's one card is the fewest they've been called for this year.
