LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 2, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball took the court one final time in 2023-24, but before they did, the Lions honored the two members of their senior class,
Clint Wright, Jr. and
Nasir Mclean.
The Lions came out of the gates with a lot of energy following the senior day ceremonies, but Chestnut Hill withstood that early surge and came back for a 66-51 win.
How it Happened
• The Lions shot 38% overall and the Griffins were up at 43%.
• GCU made 6-13 from three and CHC was just 7-28.
• Georgian Court sank 7-8 from the free throw line with Chesnut Hill making 11-17.
• Rebounding was a big advantage for the Griffins. They came down with 41 to GCU's 25. Of those 41, 16 were offensive and led to 14 second-chance points.
• The Lions turned the ball over 16 times and CHC 12. Each team scored 12 points off turnovers.
First Half
• Georgian Court carried their energy from senior day into the first half, particularly
Clint Wright, Jr. He scored the first eight points for the Lions.
• Wright, Jr. didn't miss from three in the first 20 minutes going 4-4 from the perimeter.
• Wright, Jr. got the Lions out to an early 8-2 lead, but the Lions went cold after that. CHC scored nine straight for an 11-8 lead of their own.
• Georgian Court got the lead back thanks to a 7-3 run of their own. Clint Wright, Jr hit another triple and the Lions were 3-4 and forced two turnovers.
• Wright, Jr. brought GCU's lead back to four with his fourth three-pointer of the half. The Griffins though went on another run to finish the first.
• CHC out scored the Lions 14-2 over the final 4:18. They went 6-7 overall and 2-3 from three with two Lion turnovers to take a 32-24 lead into the half.
Second Half
• Georgian Court didn't go away though. Wright, Jr. made his fifth straight three-pointer to cut the lead down to two, 33-31 three minutes into the half.
• That one-possession lead quickly disappeared though as the Griffins scored nine straight, going up double-figures, 42-31.
• Midway through the half, GCU brought the lead back into single-digits and a Wright, Jr. jumper made it a 46-40 game with 9:16 to play.
• It was still a six-point game, 53-47 with 5:08 to play following
Donavin Crawford's running, floater jumper.
• Following that though, CHC put the game away scoring 11 straight. GCU didn't score again until there was less than a minute remaining in the game and the Griffins walked away with a 66-51 win.
Lion Stat Leaders
•
Clint Wright, Jr. led all scorers with 24 points. He was 9-17 overall and 6-10 from three. He pulled down four rebounds and came up with three steals as well.

Donavin Crawford added 13 points going 4-7 from the floor and 5-5 at the line.
•
Taheen Braswell-Brown chipped in eight points.
•
Amari Jones led GCU with seven rebounds.
For the Griffins
• Alejandro Cybak picked up 19-point, 12 rebound double-double. He was perfect from the floor making all nine attempts.
• Neal Hill grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds and added nine points and six assists.
• Argel Pettit IV scored 16 with five rebounds.
• Kamal Lee was in double-figures with 11.
News and Notes
•
Clint Wright, Jr. finished his career with the second-most points in GCU history, 1361. His 254 three-pointers are a program record and he's also in the Lions all-time top-10 in rebounding, assists and steals.
• In his final game, Wright, Jr. broke his own record for single-season three-pointers with 86.
• He also is one of 18 active Division II players with 250 or more career three-pointers and his .889 career free-throw percentage is tied for 10th among active players.
• His 462 points are the third-most ever in the single season and his 17.1 scoring average is the fourth-highest.
