LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 20, 2024) - Georgian Court Acrobatics and Tumbling returned to action Wednesday evening in Lakewood for a a tri-met. It's their first ever tri-meet as they hosted both Caldwell and LIU. Each team gets one total score which is then compared to each opponent for two results from the one score. Georgian Court scored 172.785 for the meet. They were edged out by Caldwell who finished with 183.190 and LIU who scored 246.670 to finish 2-0 at the meet.
The 172.785 total score is not far off their best of the season, which was 173.370. The Lions also set season-highs in two events and in four heats.
Georgian Court had a great evening in the pyramid heats. It started with the compulsory pyramid where the Lions scored 8.8. That's a new season-high for that heat. GCU also did well in the toss heat of compulsory scoring 7.9. All totaled the Lions earned 22.60 for the compulsory heat. LIU finished with 35.35 and Caldwell 24.65.
The acro event again saw LIU finish with the most points. They scored 25.45 with Caldwell earning 22.25 and the Lions 15.15. GCU totaled 5.75 in the five-element, 5.95 in the six-element and 3.45 in the seven-element.
The pyramid saw Georgian Court deducted just six points from a possible 28.70. Their event score of 22.70 is a new season-best. GCU also set season-bests scoring 7.90 in the inversion and 8.10 in the open heats. The Lions had

Mia Zdanowicz,
Emily Miller and
Emma Bennett in the inversion pyramid. Legregin, Miller, and Bennett, along with
Katelyn Meyer,
Ava Margolies and
Kimberly Schadewald were in the open heat. GCU scored 6.70 in the synchronized pyramid. Those scores still fell behind LIU with 27.45 and Caldwell at 23.20 and at halftime, LIU led 88.25 to Caldwell's 70.10 to Georgian Court's 60.45.
Georgian Court had the fewest point deductions in event four, the toss. The Lions totaled 21.25 getting 8.05 in the 450 Salto, 6.25 in the synchronized and 6.95 in the open toss. LIU and Caldwell put up scores of 26.25 and 22.30, respectively. The 450 Salto featured Mirassol, Miller, Bennett, Meyere, Schadewald and
Sofia Atiles.
GCU started out the tumbling event setting a new season-best in the duo pass. Mirassol and Legregin scored 7.90. The Lions scored greater than an eight in the aerial pass and the six-element. Mirassol earned 8.075 in the aerial and Legregin scored 8.175 in the six-element. For the six heats, GCU totaled 38.475 in the tumbling event. LIU scored 49.650 and Caldwell 43.30.
Heading into the final event, the team event, GCU trailed Caldwell by about 15 points. Caldwell was up first and scored 47.49, meaning the Lions needed roughly 63 points to get the win. Georgian Court picked up some points, but not enough, scoring 52.61. That score is still a new season-best for the team event. LIU scored 82.52 in the team event.
Georgian Court is back on the mat again next week. They'll be in New Rochelle, NY to take on Iona next Wednesday, March 27 at 6 p.m.
