Raimondi's Milestone Day Pushed Lions Past Tigers

LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 26, 2024) - The afternoon started honoring a senior, and ended honoring a junior. Prior to Georgian Court's Women's Lacrosse game vs. Holy Family, GCU had a special ceremony to commemorate Remi Reinhardt becoming the Lions all-time leader in draw controls. By the end of the 20-8 win, it was all about Isabel Raimondi who not only scored her 200th point, but netted her 100th goal and 100th assist. The win pushed GCU to 6-5 on the year and moves them to 2-1 in the CACC.

How it Happened
• It was a tight first half with the teams trading goals early. Thanks to a couple late in the second quarter for GCU, they led by three at the half.
• GCU exploded in the second half outscoring Holy Family 11-2 to cruise to the 12-goal win.
• The Lions led in total shots 43-29 with shots on goal also favoring the Lions 33-21.
• Turnover numbers were about even. GCU lost the ball 14 times while forcing 15 Holy Family giveaways.
• The Lions successfully converted 37-40 clears and the Tigers 32-36. 
• Georgian Court gained possession winning 19-31 draw controls. They also got to nine more ground balls, 34-25.
• Holy Family hit 3-10 free-position shots while the Lions were 3-7. 
• The game featured 13 cards and the Lions were 4-7 with the extra-attacker. Holy Family converted on 2-6 power plays.
First Quarter
• The teams traded the first six goals with GCU going up one and Holy Family tying each time.
• Gianna Nardini started the scoring 41 seconds into the game. Holy Family tied it with a power play goal.
• Riley O'Connor and Alyssa Hawley each scored to give the Lions the lead before the Tigers answered.
• Georgian Court finally took the lead for good late in the first. Isabel Raimondi scored with less than two minutes remaining for a 4-3 lead and with 45 seconds left, Bryleigh Tejchman scored a woman-up goal and GCU led 5-3 after one.
Second Quarter
• Remi Reinhardt gave GCU their largest lead of the half, 6-3 with ha goal early in the second.
• Holy Family got back to within one though with a pair of goals from Maura Kilkenny.
• Michaela Scirrotto picked up loose ball and buried it in the net to give the Lions a multi-goal lead again.
• Leading by two, 8-6, O'Connor scored a power play goal with 18 seconds to play and GCU took a 9-6 lead into the half.
Third Quarter
• Georgian Court extended their lead scoring the first six goals of the third quarter.
• Raimondi scored a pair and Tejchman put together a hat trick in the third alone.
• Riley O'Connor finished it with another power play goal and a 15-6 GCU lead.
• Holy Family got one back with 40 seconds to play, but the rout was on.
Fourth Quarter
• Tejchman and Raimondi netted two more to start the fourth and get the running clock rolling at 17-7.
• Holy Family briefly stopped it with a goal, but Raimondi got it going again with her sixth goal of the game.
• O'Connor and Hawley each added one more in the final seconds as the Lions reached 20 for the second straight home game.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Isabel Raimondi scored six goals with four assists and three ground balls.
• Bryleigh Tejchman netted five with an assist and three ground balls.
• Riley O'Connor scored four herself with two assists and three ground balls.
• Alyssa Hawley totaled four points with two goals and two assists along with four draw controls.
• Remi Reinhardt won 12 draw controls while also causing two turnovers and scooping three ground balls.
• Michaela scored a goal and picked up a game-high five ground balls.
• Cadence Gentile started in goal and earned the win. She played the first half making six saves and allowing six goals.
• Natalie Moradian finished allowing just two second half goals and making eight saves.

For the Tigers
• Maura Kilkenny scored six of the Tigers eight goals. and assisted on another. She also picked up a game-high six ground balls.
• Taina Harkins and Rianna Shields were the other goal scorers. 
• Tori Wolstenholme won nine draw controls and grabbed five grounders with two caused turnovers.
• Olivia Kueney made 13 saves in goal.

News and Notes
• As mentioned, Isabel Raimondi scored her 200th career point, her 100th career goal and 100th career assist. She's just the seventh 200 point scorer in team history and the third to reach 100 goals and 100 assists.
• Not to be outdone, Raimondi also grabbed her 50th career ground ball. 
• Caitlin Petrellese played in her 30th career game. 
• Remi Reinhardt surpassed 250 career draw controls. She's one of just 20 active Division II women's lacrosse players with at least 250 draw controls.
• Eight Lions picked up at least three ground balls. Their 34 ground balls were the most in a game this season. 

Up Next
• Georgian Court can bask in this win for a while. They're off for two full weeks, returning to the field Tuesday, April 9 at home against Wilmington.
