Georgian Court Wins Third Straight With Rout of Post

WATERBURY, Conn. (April 13, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse had a big afternoon in Connecticut. The Lions picked up their third straight win with a 22-3 win over Post. The win brings Georgian Court to 4-1 in the CACC and 8-5 overall.

How it Happened
• Georgian Court doubled up the Eagles in shots taking 35 to Post's 16.
• Draw controls were pretty even with GCU winning 14-26.
• Where the Lions really held an edge was clears and turnovers. GCU was 20-22 on clear attempts while Post was just 10-17. The Lions forced Post into 19 turnovers, while losing the ball just 13 times themselves.
• On free position shots, GCU was 3-4. Post converted just 1-5.
First Period
• The early morning start time didn't seem to phase the Lions. They came out hot scoring nine in the first period. After Post took a penalty, Remi Reinhardt started the action with a power play goal less than 90 seconds into the game. Riley O'Connor made it 2-0 less than a minute later.
• Now 2-1, GCU got two more on the board from O'Connor and Tejchman. Both goals were scored shorthanded and just 23 seconds apart.
• After Post made it a 4-2 game, Georgian Court went on an 11-0 run through the end of the first half. Tejchman scored two more, O'Connor and Reinhardt one each and Isabel Raimondi joined the scoring brigade and the rout was on early with the Lions up 9-2 after one.
Second Period
• GCU blanked the Eagles in the second. Reinhardt picked up her third goal of the day to start the frame.
• O'Connor then scored three straight herself in a 4:28 second span. That run started the running clock for the afternoon.
• Raimondi netted another and O'Connor ended the half with a woman-up goal and her seventh goal of the day.
Third Period
• Post was the first team on the board in the third, but it was the last time they'd score all day.
• GCU finished the game scoring the final seven goals.
• Caitlin Petrellese and Reinhardt each scored unassisted for Georgian Court.
• Alyssa Hawley got her first goal and Michaela Scirrotto scored on the power play with just 11 seconds left in the period.
