LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 17, 2024) - For the first time this season Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse won their fourth straight game. The Lions pulled away late in the second half of their 16-12 win over Bridgeport. The win puts Georgian Court at 9-5 overall and 5-1 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court won a whopping 27-of-32 draw controls, 84.3%.
• Those extra possessions gave GCU a 31-21 shot advantage. They also led 26-17 in shots on goal.
• Georgian Court turned the ball over 18 and force 13 from the Purple Knights. Getting across the timeline was an issue both ways with GCU converting 9-14 and Bridgeport 17-22.
• Bridgeport was called for seven cards and the Lions were hit for just two. GCU scored three extra-woman opportunities, and one shorthanded. Bridgeport connected once for a power play goal.
• Georgian Court scored on six of seven free-position shots while Bridgeport was just 1-5.Â
First Period
• The first period was full of action with the teams combined for 10 goals.
• It started right away with
Remi Reinhardt winning the opening draw, dishing to
Isabel Raimondi who finished for a 1-0 GCU lead just 12 seconds into the game.
• After that though Bridgeport scored three straight to take a 3-1 lead. That would be their largest lead of the game.
• Raimondi scored her second and
Bryleigh Tejchman tied the game with 8:35 left to play.
• Georgian Court scored five straight in the first to turn that 3-1 deficit into a 6-3 lead. Reinhardt scored one herself, then
Riley O'Connor and Tejchman each scored on the power play.
• Bridgeport got back to within two, 6-4, with a goal with 2:08 left in the first.
Second Period
• After the 10-goal first period, there were just two in the second.
• Reinhardt scored less than three minutes in to get the lead back to three, 7-4.
• It stayed that way for more than eight minutes. The Purple Knights scored 3:25 left before the end of the half and it was 7-5 after 30 minutes.
• Tejchman had a good look at the net in the closing seconds, but her shot was blocked from behind and sailed high as the horn sounded.
Third Period
• Bridgeport stormed out in the second half, getting to within one goal 33 seconds in. They then tied it less than two minutes later.

Gianna Nardini broke the tie with a free position goal to put the Lions back up 8-7 and they led the rest of the way.
• Reinhardt scored another 90 seconds later before the teams started trading goals.
• UB got back to within one, 10-9, at the 4:05 mark in the third before the Lions went on a five-goal spree in the third and fourth periods.
• Raimondi and
Gabrielle Battle each scored for GCU in the final 2:16 to put the Lions up 12-9 heading into the fourth.
Fourth Quarter
• After a while, losing the draw control came around to haunt the Purple Knights.
Kasha Elzinga scored on a free position to start the fourth.

Caitlin Petrellese followed and Reinhardt scored her fourth, shorthanded, to give GCU their largest lead, 15-9, with 8:53 left.
• Bridgeport got one back with under six to play, but
Riley O'Connor brought it back to a six goal lead, 16-10 with 4:46.
• The Purple Knights punched in two goals in the final 75 seconds but it wasn't enough and the Lions held on for their fourth straight win.
Lion Stat Leaders

Isabel Raimondi totaled six points with three goals and three assists. She also grabbed three ground ball.
•
Remi Reinhardt scored four goals, added an assist and won 16 draw controls while causing two turnovers and scooping four ground balls.

Riley O'Connor chipped in three goals and an assist with six draw controls and four ground balls.
•
Bryleigh Tejchman scored twice.
•
Caitlin Petrellese scored while also winning three draws and picking up four grounders.
•
Cadence Gentile improved to 4-0 making five saves.
For the Purple Knights
• Jacklyn Mellia stopped 10 shots in net.
• Emily Stuart totaled four points with two goals and two assists as well as four ground balls.
• Max McDermott picked up a hat trick with three goals.
• Megan Kreitler scored three times as well.

• This was the first time Bridgeport has played in Lakewood, GCU now leads the all-time series 2-1.

Remi Reinhardt's 16 draw controls is the third-highest in Lions history. She set a new record last year with 19 against Chestnut Hill.
