BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (April 14, 2024) - Staring down an 0-2 trip to Bridgeport, Georgian Court Softball battled back twice to earn a win in game earn and salvage a split of their doubleheader with the Purple Knights. The win moves GCu to 16-18 on the year and 8-6 in the CACC.

• The Purple Knights got one run back in the home half of the fourth with a two-out RBI single to center. They took the lead back an inning later with a double and a sacrifice fly.

Game 1 Bridgeport 2, Georgian Court 1
How it Happened

• Game one was a classic pitching duel featuring just seven total hits.
• It was also a clash of styles as Bridgeport put every ball in play, not striking out once. GCU fanned 14 times.
• In the bottom of the first, Bridgeport got a run on a sacrifice fly and that proved to be all they needed.
• The Lions best chance to score came in the fourth. They started the inning with back-to-back walks and loaded the bases with two outs but couldn't push a run across.
• Bridgeport got another productive out to score a run on a ground out in the third.
• The Purple Knights set the Lions down in order in the sixth and seventh with five strikeouts to complete the shut out.

• The Lions 14 strikeouts in game one are their most in a game this season and just the fourth time they've struckout 10 or more times.
• Georgian Court finished a very busy week playing 12 games in eight days with a 7-5 record.
