Women's Lacrosse Looks To Make it Four in a Row vs. Bridgeport

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 16, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse has a big week ahead hosting two teams at the top of the CACC standings.

Previously vs. Bridgeport
• With Bridgeport being the newest member of the CACC for Women's Lacrosse, these two have met just twice previously.
• Their first ever meeting came back in 2017, a loss. Six years later they met as conference rivals with GCU getting the win 20-12 last season.
• Georgian Court has never faced Bridgeport at home.
• In last season's win, the Lions scored eight first quarter goals and led 13-6 at the half.
Isabel Raimondi led GCU scoring six times. Alyssa Wahl totaled nine points. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court had their way with Bridgeport's Connecticut counterpart, Post last weekend.
• The Lions never trailed in their 22-3 win over the Eagles.
• GCU was up 9-2 after one quarter and were up by 10 midway through the second.
Riley O'Connor scored eight goals and 11 points.
Cadence Gentile made nine saves.

• Isabel Raimondi sits sixth in the CACC with 73 points on the season. She's also third in assists at 39 and her 3.00 assists per game are sixth most in the NCAA.
• Riley O'Connor is seventh in goals with 48 and ninth in points with 66. Her 3.69 goals per game are fourth-best. 
• Remi Reinhardt leads the league with 7.46 per game. 
• Georgian Court is winning 14.77 draw controls per game, third-most in the CACC.
• The Lions are scoring 15.15 goals per game, which is third in the league. They're also third in goals against average at 10.38
• GCU is tops in the conference with a .883 clearance percentage.
• On the ground, GCU is grabbing 20.31 ground balls per game, second in the CACC.
• Georgian Court is third converting 45.8% of their free position shots. 

Who's Hot?
• Isabel Raimondi is averaging eight points per game in her last three games.  
• Riley O'Connor has at least three goals in seven straight games. She scored a season-high eight at Post. 
• Cadence Gentile has won each of the last three games for GCU. She made a career-high nine saves at Post and was the CACC Goaltender of the Week. 
• Caitlin Petrellese has at least one ground ball and one draw control in eight straight games. 
Michaela Scirrotto has scored two goals in back-to-back games.
• The Lions defense has allowed fewer than 10 goals in five of the last six games.

Playoff Picture
• The top six teams in the CACC will all make the conference tournament beginning April 29.
• The top two each receive a bye and host the semi final round with the No. 3 and 4 seeds hosting the quarterfinals.
• Georgian Court is currently in second place at 4-1 behind first-place Dominican who is the only unbeaten left at 7-0.
• There are three teams behind GCU with two losses. Wilmington is 5-2 and Bridgeport and Jefferson are each 4-2. 
• A win over Bridgeport would give the Purple Knights three losses. GCU also has a win over Wilmington but a loss to Jefferson. 
• This week, the Lions play two teams in playoff contention in Bridgeport and Dominican. They finished with Felician and Chestnut Hill who are both currently on the outside looking in.
• The Championship game is played Sunday, May 5 at Dominican. 

About the Opponents
Bridgeport Purple Knights

• Bridgeport is in the midst of their best season in the past decade.
• UB is 9-3 this season and off to a 4-2 start in the CACC.
• They've won three straight games and are 4-2 on the road.
• The Purple Knights are scoring 14 goals per game while allowing just 11, both of those are fourth in the CACC.
• On defense, they lead the CACC with 12.75 caused turnovers per game. Tara DiMaio is part of the reason for that with her three caused turnovers per game leading the CACC.
• Offensively, UB has two 50-point scorers in Danielle Kreitler and DiMaio. Kreitler has a team-best 42 goals scored.
