LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 21, 2024) - Georgian Court Softball completed their nonconference schedule with regional power Adelphi. Playing in Lakewood, the Lions were swept by the Panthers 14-1 in six innings and 4-1. GCU falls back below .500 at 19-21 overall this season.
Game 1 - Adelphi 14, Georgian Court 1 - 6 Innings
How it Happened
• Georgian Court was outhit 20-7 and Adelphi popped five extra-base hits to the Lions two.
• GCU pitchers didn't issue a walk or strike out a batter. The Lions were fanned six times and walked once.
• In the field, the Lions committed two errors leading to one unearned run. The Panthers error also led to an unearned run.
• The Lions stranded eight runners on base while the Panthers left six on.
• The scoring started with each teams getting a run in the first. An infield single allowed a run to score for Adelphi.
• Georgian Court matched them in the home half as
Jadalynn Rodriguez's bunt was thrown away by the pitcher allowing
Cheyenne Jackson to score.
• That was all the scoring for the Lions though. Adelphi put up a three spot in the third with three RBI hits.
• The game stayed 4-1 to the sixth. That's when the Panthers broke it open with a 10-run inning. Faith Camilleri's home run the biggest hit of the inning.
• GCU left two on in the bottom of the sixth, but the game ended early, 14-1 after six innings.

For the Panthers
• Lindsey Hibbs threw all six innings allowing just one unearned run on seven hits with six strikeouts.
• Angela Lignelli was 3-4 and scored twice.
• Jaden Farhat collected two hits in two at bats.
• Courtney Wengryn had a double as part of a three hit day with two RBI and a run scored.
• Zee Zee Shreter finished 2-4 with two runs and a stolen base.
Game 2 - Adephi 4, Georgian Court 1
How it Happened
• Georgian Court outhit the Panthers 4-3. Each team had one extra base hit.
• The game featured five errors. Two for the home team which scored three unearned runs. Adelphi made three miscues, but worked around each one.
• Lion pitchers walked three and struck out two. Adelphi struck out five without issuing a walk.
• GCU was 0-2 on the basepaths and left four on base. Adelphi stranded three.
• The Lions got on the board once again in the first.
Adriana Mungo lofted a one-out double and moved to third on
Kaitlyn Stufft's single up the middle. A ground ball to short brought in Mungo with the game's first run.
• GCU had a chance to tack on in the fourth. Two errors put runners on the corners with one out. The Lions attempted a double steal, but the throw down to second then back home was in time to catch
Jadalynn Rodriguez at the plate and the Panthers escaped the inning unharmed.

Janelle Blaszka had gone the first five innings without allowing a hit. That changed in the sixth with a leadoff base hit from Zee Zee Shreter. The Panthers sacrifice bunt resulted in a three-base throwing error as Shreter scored from first to tie the game and Courtney Murphy moved all the way to third.
• One batter a sacrifice fly gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead going to the bottom of the sixth.
• Adelphi added to their lead with a two-out hit in the seventh. Brianna Fischer connected for a triple to right to bring in Kendall Winn.

• GCU couldn't muster much offense in their final two at bats, and dropped game two 4-1.

Janelle Blaszka was working on a no-hitter through five innings. She finished allowing four runs, one earned on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks.

Adriana Mungo doubled and scored.

Jadalynn Rodriguez drove in a run.

For the Panthers
• Lily Kenney gave up four hits and one run while striking out five.
• Brianna Fischer tripled home a run and scored another.
• Kendall Winn, singled, walked and scored.
• Jordan Pasqueralli drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
News and Notes
• In the first inning of game two,
Adriana Mungo doubled. It was her 61st career double giving her the Lions all-time record for career doubles.
• Adephi has now won five straight against the Lions and are 16-10 all-time against GCU.
• In the sixth inning of game one, Adelphi sent up five pinch hitters who went 4-5 in the inning.
• The 20 hits allowed in game one are the most the Lions have allowed in a game this season.
