Offense Struggles in Loss to Jefferson

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Jan. 28, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball did not close out the month of January as they would have hoped. The Lions offense struggled out of the gate and couldn't generate much against Jefferson in an 86-50 loss to the Rams.

How it Happened
• The Rams shot 51.4% overall  while making 6-20 from behind the arc and 8-13 at the foul line.
• The Lions hit just 35.6% overall and were 3-26 from distance.
• Jefferson had a strong advantage rebounding the ball, 48-29 and used 14 offensive rebounds to score 11 second-chance points.
• Georgian Court turned the ball over 16 times leading to 21 Jefferson points. The Lions scored 13 points from 11 Ram giveaways.
1st Half
• The two teams traded baskets at the outset with Anthony Gooden and Justin Soranno making a pair of layups in a 4-4 game.
• Donavin Crawford hit a layup, but that was immediately followed by a Jefferson basket and a 10-6 Ram lead.
• Both offenses went cold from there as neither team scored for more than three minutes.
• Jefferson broke the drought with a layup and the faucet turned on for the Rams.
• That kicked off a 6-0 Ram run while Georgian Court was scoreless for more than six minutes.
• The Rams built their lead to 15 before Jacob Santiago hit a three before the end of the half to go into the break down 12, 34-22.
2nd Half
• Jefferson's offense continued to put the pressure on Georgian Court. The Rams shot 58.3% in the second half, scoring 52 points.
• Georgian Court could never get back in and threaten the Ram lead and Jefferson put the game away early in an 86-50 win.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Cam Edmonds scored 22 points with three steals.
• Anthony Gooden scored six with a team-high eight rebounds.
• Jacob Santiago added six as well going 2-4 with a three.

For the Rams
• Justin Hawkins totaled 21 points in 9-16 shooting with 12 rebounds.
• Sean Fullerton finished 7-11 from the floor for 16 points.
• Jeremiah Dorsey scored five with a game-high six assists.

News and Notes
• Cam Edmonds matched the Lions single-season record for made free throws.
• Edmonds also entered the Lions top-10 for single-season scoring.
• Taheen Braswell-Brown surpassed 1000 minutes played.
• Amari Jones grabbed his 200th career rebound.
• The Lions nine free throw attempts match the lowest they've had in a game this season.
• Georgian Court drops to 1-20 all-time against Jefferson.

• Georgian Court will take to the road for a weekend trip to Bridgeport, CT. They'll play the Purple Knights with a 3 pm tip off Saturday, Feb. 1.
