Volleyball Returns Home To Face Caldwell

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Oct. 17, 2025) - Georgian Court Volleyball looks to end a mini two-game losing streak this Saturday against Caldwell.

• Saturday's game is available to watch on a free-to-view live stream on the Georgian Court portal of the CACC Network, powered by HUDL. Live stats are available on the Georgian Court schedule page. 

50/50 Raffle
• All season-long, Georgian Court Athletics will be running a 50/50 raffle at all indoor home games and select outdoor games. Stop by the admissions table to enter the raffle.
• $10 per ticket or $20 for 3 tickets
• Cash only
• Drawing April 28, participants do not need to be present to win. 

Previously vs. Caldwell
• Georgian Court has enjoyed a lot of success against their CACC North Division foe.
• All-time the Lions are 18-6 against Caldwell, and 10-1 at home.
• GCU has also won six of the last seven games, with sweeps coming in 2023 and 2024.
• The only time Caldwell defeated Georgian Court in Lakewood came back in 2016 in the CACC Tournament quarterfinals. 
• Last year, GCU tamed the Cougars, winning 25-16, 25-21, 25-14. They hit a season-best .465.
Chelsea Ross hit .588 herself with 12 kills. Nylene Mateo also scored 12 kills while hitting .500.

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court suffered their second straight road loss Wednesday at Jefferson.
• The Rams won the opening set before the Lions tied things at one. But the Rams responded winning sets three and four for a 3-1 win.
• GCU hurt themselves with nine service errors and just one ace.
Ava Churnesky led the team with 11 kills.

Individual Milestones
Emily Hauptvogel is five kills shy of 100 for her career.
Ava Churnesky needs nine points to hit 200.  
• Genesis Simanca needs one point to hit 200 and four digs for 150.
• Amber Gallo needs two aces for 20.

CACC Stat Leaders (as per NCAA statistics)
• Iciar Zayas is seventh in the league averaging 6.72 assists per set. Her 450 total assists ranks fifth.
• Carmen Rivera's 4.50 digs per set ranks fourth in the league.
• Ava Churnesky is fourth in the CACC with 3.20 kills per set.
• Emma Gildea's 54 blocks are third in the league. 
• As a team the Lions are fifth in the CACC in assists per set.
• They rank fifth in hitting percentage and kills per set.

Who's Hot?
• Brooke Bowbliss has 41 kills in her last four games with 27 digs and 21 blocks. 
• Emma Gildea has 23 blocks in her last four games. 
• Ava Churnesky has five straight double-figure kill games, averaging 3.37 kills per set. 
Kyla Davis has 21 kills and 13 blocks in her last four games. 

CACC Awards
• For the second time this season, Ava Churnesky earned the CACC Rookie of the Week honor.
• Churnesky hit .212 last week with 25 kills and 10 digs. 

About Caldwell
• It has been a rough go of it for Caldwell. They are still in search of their first win of the season sitting at 0-16 and 0-7 in the CACC.
• They played well against Holy Family, leading 2-1, but dropped the fourth and fifth sets. 
• The Cougars rank near the bottom of not only the CACC, but the NCAA as well in most statistical categories. 
• As a team, they're hitting just .073 averaging 7.84 kills per set.
• Wyette Schubert-Brown leads the team with 2.25 poitns and 2.23 kills per set, the only Cougar averaging more than two kills per set.
• The service line has been a problem for Caldwell. They have 83 aces against 111 errors. Teams have also hit 184 aces, more than three aces per set against them.
• One bright spot has been on the block where that have three with more than 20 blocks this season, led by Meredith Gatz and her 32.
