LAKEWOOD, NJ (Nov. 15, 2025) - The Georgian Court Volleyball season came to a close Saturday afternoon. The Lions went into the game knowing they had been eliminated from the postseason, but that didn't stop them from playing hard Jefferson in the season finale. Boosted by the emotions of pregame Senior Day celebrations, the Lions went on to win the opening set. Jefferson though bounced back to take the final three, winning the three sets by a total of just seven points. The loss finishes GCU's season at 8-18 and 5-10 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• The Lions had a good offensive day. They hit .287, more than 100 percentage points higher than the Rams who finished at .181.
• GCU totaled 49 kills, one fewer than the Rams, but hit 10 fewer errors.
• Jefferson took advantage of 14 Lion service errors. GCU hit six aces. Jefferson totaled 12 aces and 12 service errors.
• Each team put back six blocks defensively. The Lions led 60-51 in digs.
1st Set
• The first set was the best for the Lions. They hit .350 with nine kills.
• Jefferson struggled on the serve with one ace and hit six serve errors.
• Tied at six, the Lions scored three straight to take a lead they'd never relinquish.
• GCU was up two, 12-10 when they pushed their lead to eight with an 8-2 run.
Brooke Bowbliss had a pair of kills during the run.
• The Lions never gave up the lead and took the opener 25-17.
2nd Set
• Set two featured 14 ties and eight lead changes.
• A three point lead was the highest any team had at any point in the set.
• That three-point lead came from Jefferson, 10-7 who scored three straight service aces.
• The Lions were able to recover and came back to tie at 11.
• The teams were going back-and-forth, still tied at 23.
• A Ram kill and a misplaced set gave the Rams a 25-23 win to tie the match.
3rd Set
• Set three had even more ties and lead changes, 20 and 12.
• At no point did any team have a lead greater than two.
• The score was tied at each point from 7-24.

Genesis Simanca tied the score at 24 with a kill but Jefferson followed with two of their own and went up two sets to one, 26-24.
• Both teams hit better than .300 in the frame with the Lions at .324 and the Rams at .317.
4th Set
• Jefferson took a large lead in set four, turning a 3-3 tie into a 9-4 lead.
• The Lions responded and a kill from
Ava Churnesky made it a one-point game, 11-10.
• GCU continued to roll and a Jefferson attack error tied the set at 14.

Genesis Simanca tied the set again at 18, but the Lions were never able to grab the lead.
• The Rams scored three straight for a 21-18 lead and a kill put the match away, 25-22.

Genesis Simanca led the Lions with 14 kills and six digs.

Kyla Davis had 10 kills against just one error and hit .562.

• Jefferson was led by Emily Mckenna, who had 17 kills. She added a team-best 13 digs.
• Liz Tanis and Pemi Areola had nine kills each.Â
