WATERBURY, Conn. (Nov. 9, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer needed to do the improbable as the No. 8 seed taking on the No. 1 seed in the CACC Tournament Quarterfinals. The Lions put up a good fight against top-seeded Post, but fell 1-0 as the Eagles scored on a penalty kick. Georgian Court ends the season at 5-9-3 overall after going 4-6 in the CACC regular season.
How it Happened
• The loss didn't come from lack of opportunities. GCU took 23 shots, putting 11 on goal with 16 of those shots coming in the second half.
• Post took nine shots and once they got the lead in the first half, settled into a defensive mode to kill the clock.
• Georgian Court's offense earned 10 corner kicks. Post took just four.
• Post's defensive strategy led to 12 fouls called and six yellow cards, all the cards coming in the second half.
• GCU was called for 10 fouls and three yellow card bookings.Â
• Georgian Court possessed the ball for nearly 60% of the match.
1st Half
• The game started with
Alessandro Cavallini getting a shot off in the first minute.
• Both teams were taking shots at the net early in the contest.
Mikey Mallon was on target, but his shot was saved.

Ayendi Batista also made a save in the first 15 minutes.
• In the 24th minute, Georgian Court was whistled for a foul just inside the box giving Post a penalty kick. Pablo Tenorio took the kick. He waited for Batista to make a move and shot down the middle. Batista got a hand on the ball, but it wasn't enough to stop it from going in the net and Eagles took a 1-0 lead.
• Right after the goal, Georgian Court pushed a couple of shots towards the net, but Leopold Dufaut was there to make the save.
• Post got a corner kick in the closing seconds, but nothing came of it as the half concluded
2nd Half
• Needing a goal to tie, Georgian Court was on a mission, getting anything they could on goal.
• In the first nine minutes, the Lions had four shots and two corner kicks, but came up empty.
• Midway through the half, Mallon and
Sander Rynning each got a shot on goal. Rynning with a low angled rocket, but into the chest of Dufaut.
• With time running out, GCU took six shots in the final 10 minutes and four corner kicks. Post was up to task each time and kept the ball out of the net as the clock hit 90 minutes.
