Acrobatics and Tumbling Start Season With Win Over American International

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Feb. 10, 2025) - Georgian Court Acrobatics and Tumbling started their 2025 season in grand fashion. Competing at home against American International, the Lions scored 177.505 points to claim a win.

American International is in their first year as a program with tonight being their first meet in team history. 

In the compulsory event to start the meet, Georgian Court scored a 23.6. They set a program-best 5.95 in the acro portion. They then scored 7.5 in the pyramid, 8.15 in the toss and 2.0 in the tumbling. American International competed in just the acro portion, scoring a 2.0

The Lions started the acro portion with a program record in the 5-element scoring 8.45. The finished the event scoring 19.5, getting 6.5 points in the 6-element and 4.5 in the 7-element. AIC scored a total of 6.3 in the three acro heats.

The pyramid event saw another program-best score. That came in the open pyramid where the Lions scored an 8.95. They scored an 8.2 in the inversion and a 7.9 in the synchronized pyramid for an even total of 25.05. 

American International did not compete in the pyramid and at the half, the Lions led 68.15-8.3.

To start the second half, Georgian Court scored 21.3 in the toss event. They totaled an 8.0 in the 450 Salto, 6.75 in the synchronized and 6.55 in the open toss.

The final event before the team event was tumbling. GCU started out with a 4.55 in the duo pass, 5.1 in the trio pass and 4.05 in the quad pass. In the individual passes, Gianna Mirassol scored a 6.4 in the aerial pass, Louanne Legregin scored 7.875 in the 6-element and Ashley Salveson scored 6.7 in the open pass, giving the Lions a 34.675 total for tumbling.

American International scored 8.325 in the tumbling portion, earning 2.0 in the trio pass and 6.325 in the open pass.

In the team event, the Lions totaled 52.38 points. Georgian Court's 177.505 total score is just three points short of their season high from all of last year. 

The Lions are back in action next week as they head up north to take on Caldwell Wednesday, February 19 at 6 pm.
