About the Opponent
Molloy Lions
• This will be Molloy's second game of the season. They got the year underway Wednesday afternoon at home against number 3 Adelphi, a 17-9 loss.
• A year ago, Molloy finished 8-8 and 3-3 in the ECC regular season.
• They advanced to the semifinals in the ECC Tournament last year and were picked to finish third in the 2025 preseason coaches poll.
• Molloy returns 14 from the 2024 squad. That includes ECC Attacker of the Year Megan Rugolo who scored 66 points with 50 goals scored. She netted three against Adelphi.
• They'll also bring back their second leading scorer and Second Team All-ECC selection Alexa Amorison.
• All-ECC performers Sofia Quitoni in the midfield and Carly Howell on defense are back for their senior years as well. Quitoni scored three vs. the Panthers on Wednesday.
• Molloy brought in 11 freshmen, but have plenty of veterans with nine seniors and three juniors.
• The team did lose goalkeeper Mary-Kate Sweeney who started all 16 games last season. Nicole Schaumloffel played 123 minutes in backup duty allowing 7.3 goals against average with a .375 save percentage. She got the first crack against Adelphi in the season opener making 12 saves.
