LAKEWOOD, NJ (Feb. 18, 2025) - Georgian Court doesn't shy away from a tough nonconference schedule and they started the 2025 season with a pair of ranked opponents. After opening the season against the defending champion and No. 1 ranked Adelphi Panthers, it didn't get much easier in game two against 12th ranked Mercy. The Mavericks offense was humming despite the freezing conditions in the first half en route to a 21-6 win.

How it Happened
• Faceoffs were a big key for the Mavericks who won 21-30.
• All those extra possessions gave Mercy 14 more total shots, 44-30.
• Georgian Court committed six penalties accounting for five minutes with Mercy scoring on two of them.
• GCU was 1-1 with their extra attacker.
1st Quarter
• Mercy scored two in quick succession for an early 2-0 lead.
• The Lions got one back on the power play as Brett Bridges scored with Joe Zerr picking up the assist.
• Then like the temperature outside, GCU went cold. Mercy finished the quarter scoring three more to lead 5-1 after one.
2nd Quarter
• The Mavericks kept the momentum up in the second.
• They scored six goals in the first 4:19 of the frame.
• Between the first and second quarters, Mercy rattled off 11 straight goals and led 13-1.
• The half finished with Doug Mackenzie and Zerr each scoring one.
3rd Quarter
• The teams traded goals to start the third with Mackenzie picking up his second of the day.
• Mercy tallied three more before the frame was over, going up 17-4 with one quarter left.
4th Quarter
• Matt Dorrian scored two in the fourth for Georgian Court to bring their total to six.
• Mercy also padded their lead with four more goals before running out the clock.

• Matt Dorrian and Doug Mackenzie each scored twice.
• Millan Webster picked up a pair of assists.
• Joe Zerr had a goal and an assist.
• Vincent Burkhart made 10 saves.

For the Mavericks
• Peter Murphy didn't start in net, but played most of the minutes and made eight saves, allowing four goals.
• Ryan Smith scored 10 points with six goals and four assists.
• Jimmy Osorio scored four goals and Dillon Osorio scored three.
• Cole Hunsberger picked up a goal and four assists.
