Lion's Open First Away Campaign Against Mercy

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Feb. 18, 2025) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse travel for their first away trip to Dobbs Ferry, NY, home of the Mercy Mavericks.

Previously vs. Mercy  
• In nine all-time meetings, Mercy leads the battle vs Georgian Court with an 8-1 record.  
• The Lions last victory against the Mavericks came in their first matchup in 2015. GCU came away with a 10-4 result.
• Their last meeting was in 2023, a 23-9 Mercy win. 
• Mercy College had a halftime lead of 12-6 and their momentum carried them into a dominant second half scoring 11 more to GCU's three.  
• Riley O'Connor scored seven goals.  
• Alexis Hahn made 13 saves.  
 
Last Time Out 
• Georgian Court won their home opener in an exhilarating victory vs the Molloy Lions, 13-12 with the winner coming in OT.  
• The Lions held a four-goal lead heading into the fourth but couldn't close the game in regulation.  
• With help of a big save by Cadence Gentile, the Lions were able to retain possession, and it was Caitlin Petrellese who scored off a free position shot.  
• Caitlin Petrellese scored four times and won seven draw controls  
• Isabel Raimondi totaled seven points with two goals and five assists 
• Nena Menard and Gabrielle Battle each scored twice. 
• Sophia Raimondi had a goal and an assist. 
• Cadence Gentile made nine saves for the win in net. 
 
Individual Milestones 
• Caitlin Petrellese's next game played will be her 40th. She is one caused turnover away from 25. 
• Isabel Raimondi is six goals away from entering the Lions all-time top-10. She needs five assists to move to second all-time and five points for fifth all-time. 
Cadence Gentile is two wins in net away from 10.
Madison Battle's next game will be her 50th. 
 
About the Opponent 
Mercy Mavericks  

• This will be Mercy's first game of the season.  
• A year ago, Mercy finished 9-10 and 5-1 in the ECC regular season. 
• They advanced to the final in the ECC Tournament last year and lost a heartbreaker to #1 Roberts Wesleyan. A 12-11 one-goal loss. 
• Mercy returns four All-ECC selections from a year ago, headlined by Lindsey Shimborske who was named ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason First Team All-American.  
• They'll also bring back Leah Hansen who along with Shimborske was selected to IWLCA All-Region. 
• Juniors Andrea Mott and Emily Marino will also be returning to the squad after being named Second Team All-ECC last season.  
• The Mavericks brought in seven freshmen to go along with their seven sophomores, six juniors, and three seniors.
