PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Feb. 19, 2025) - Georgian Court Women's Basketball started a three game road trip Wednesday afternoon. As they finish off the regular season, the Lions were at CACC South Division leading Holy Family.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court finished the game shooting 35% overall while Holy Family was at 41%.
• The Lions were 4-18 from downtown and 11-15 at the line. HFU hit 8-22 from deep and 13-14 from the stripe.
• Holy Family had the rebounding edge as well, 41-32.
• Georgian Court committed fewer turnovers, 16 to the Tigers 18, but Holy Family scored 20 points off turnovers while the Lions cashed those 18 giveaways into just 11 points.
1st Quarter
• Georgian Court started the game with a bang as
Maria Stanescu buried a three on the Lions first possession.
• With GCU now up 5-2, Holy Family started a 13-0 run, going 5-9 from the floor and 3-6 from three while the Lions turned the ball over four times.
• Holy Family took a 15-5 lead and were up eight, 15-7 after the first.
2nd Quarter
• Georgian Court tried to keep it around a 10-point game early in the second quarter.
• Stanescu hit a pair of layups to keep the lead in the single digits.
• In the closing seconds, the Tigers knocked a pair of free throws to take a 32-19 lead into the break.
3rd Quarter
•
Karissa Smedley started the half with a jumper, but the Tigers used an 8-1 run to take their largest lead, 40-22.
• Georgian Court shot 7-15 in the third, putting up 19 points, but Holy Family was still able to extend their lead scoring 22 and knocking in three three-pointers.
• Each team went 2-2 at the free throw line in the final minute, and HFU maintained a 54-38 lead through three.
4th Quarter
• Georgian Court fought back in the fourth, hitting three three-pointers after just making one in the first three.
• Back-to-back threes from Stanescu and
Julia Whesper brought the lead down to single digits, 58-49 with 6:39 left and forced a Tiger timeout.
• After the timeout thought the Lions went cold and didn't score for more than three minutes.
• Holy Family sealed the game with a pair of Amy Ngo three-pointers for the 12-point win.

Maria Stanescu finished with 12 points and four rebounds.

Karissa Smedley scored 11 with a team-high five boards.

Jade Dickson and
Samantha Jones each scored eight with four rebounds.
For the Tigers
• Taylor Hinkle scored 14 points going 5-10 overall and 2-3 from three with six rebounds.
• Amy Ngo scored 14 as well off the bench.
• Carolyn Prevost was 7-7 at the foul line and scored 11.
