DOBBS FERRY, NY (Feb. 19, 2025) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse played their first road game of 2025. They went up to a frigid Dobbs Ferry, NY to take on Mercy who may or not be recieving votes in the IWLCA Coaches Poll. The Mavericks had no problem with the cold while the Lions offense was mostly frozen in a 15-3 loss.
How it Happened
• Turnovers were a big part of the game with GCU giving it away 21 times and Mercy just 14.
• Shots heavily favored Mercy, 32-12.
• Draw controls went the way of the Mavericks 12-7.
• Mercy was also the better team on the ground grabbing 21 ground balls to Georgian Court's 11.Â
• Clears were not the major cause of the Lions turnover woes. They were 17-19 on clear attempts while Mercy was 19-24.
1st Quarter
• For more than five minutes the game was scoreless.
• Mercy changed that with a goal at the 9:55 mark before the defenses took control again.
• The Mavericks were able to go up 2-0 with a goal with less than a minute remaining.
• Georgian Court's offense did not get a shot off for the entire first quarter.
2nd Quarter
• Mercy made it 3-0 before the Lions first shot attempt, a free-position attempt that sailed high.
• A little more than three minutes in, Mercy doubled their lead to 4-0.

• The Mavericks answered in a big way though scoring five more goals over the final eight minutes to take a 9-1 lead into the half.
3rd Quarter
• Mercy continued to add to their total scoring the first two goals of the half.

Nena Menard capitalized on a free-position shot to stop the Lions drought and made it an 11-2 game.
• The Mavericks beat the clock and punched in another goal with five seconds left to lead 12-2.
4th Quarter
• Just over two minutes in, it was Menard again scoring on another free-position shot.
• Mercy finished the game scoring three more times with a running clock for a 15-3 win.
