RICHMOND, Va. (March 10, 2025) - Georgian Court Softball finished up their spring break trip in style with a sweep of Virginia Union. They got a huge seventh-inning comeback for the win in game one and followed that with a great pitching performance in game two.
Game 1 - Georgian Court 10, Virginia Union 8
How it Happened
• Game one was a wild affair that saw 18 runs, 16 hits and a huge seventh inning comeback.
• Each team made two errors in the field. That led to one GCU unearned run and two Virginia Union unearned runs.
• GCU pitchers walked seven and struck out six. The Lions didn't strike out once at the plate and walked four times.
• Two batters into the game, GCU had the lead. Lia Demaio walked to start it then
Kaylin Curro drove her in with a triple.
Ella Moore's groundout scored Curro and it was a 2-0 before VUU came to bat.
• The Panthers got a run in the home half of the first then scored three second.
•
Cheyenne Jackson tied the game in the fourth with a home run, then her sac fly in the fifth gave the team the lead.
• Virginia Union put up a four spot in the fifth to reclaim the lead. Two runs came in on walks, another on a sacrifice fly and only one on a run-scoring hit.
• The Panthers led 8-5 until the seventh. The Lions put the first five on base in the inning. Jackson's bases loaded double tied the game and a pair of productive outs put the Lions up 10-8.

Janelle Blaszka set the Panthers down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning to complete the comeback.

Cheyenne Jackson was 2-3 with a home run and five RBI.

Kaylin Curro scored three runs with a pair of hits including an RBI triple.

Reagan Winn each had a hit, run scored and an RBI.

Janelle Blaszka pitched the final two innings allowing two hits and no runs while striking out three.
For the Panthers
• Brandy Robers pitched all seven innings allowing 10 runs, nine earned on eight hits with four walks.
• Yonah Rogers was 2-4 with a run and an RBI.
• Aniya Jones reached three times with a hit and two walks . She also scored and drove in one.
Game 2 - Georgian Court 3, Virginia Union 1
How it Happened
• Game two was the complete opposite. There was just four runs scored.
• GCU did collect nine hits though. They also took advantage of two Panther errors to score two unearned runs.
• VUU stole four bases while GCU was quiet on the basepaths.

Mikayla LaPlaca started the scoring in the second. her double drove in
Cheyenne Jackson for a 1-0 lead in the second.
• Two innings later, LaPlaca made it 2-0 as her sacrifice fly scored
Gabriella Aleman.
• The Panthers cut the lead in half in the fifth on a squeeze play to score a run.
• GCU got some insurance in the seventh as
Brooklyn Ragland's RBI single scored
Kristy Regalado who reached on an error.

• Blaszka started this game and allowed a run on three hits with six strikeouts.
• Mikayla LaPlace doubled and drove in two runs.

Kaylin Curro each had a pair of hits.

• Yonah Rogers gave up three runs on nine hits with one strikeout. She also had a single and a stolen base.
