Men's Lacrosse Opens Conference Season With Win at Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (March 15, 2025) - Conference season is here for Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse and they stepped right in and picked up a 13-9 win at Bridgeport. The Lions never trailed in the game and used a dominating second quarter to pull away, evening their record to 4-4 and starting out 1-0 in league action.

How it Happened
• Bridgeport had plenty of chances, considering they won 20-24 faceoffs.
• Where the Lions won the game was in forcing 22 turnovers and going 4-10 on extra-man opportunities.
• Penalties really helped the Lions as Bridgeport was flagged 11 times and the Lions just three.
• Bridgeport fired more shots, 40-34, especially in the second half when the Lions totaled just 16 to the Purple Knights' 25.
• UB more than doubled GCU on the ground picking up 32 ground balls to the Lions 14.
1st Quarter
• Each team scored twice in the opening period.
• GCU started it with goals from Brett Bridges and Tyler Michalski less than three minutes apart.
• The Lion defense was pitching a shutout for more than 11 minutes.
• The Purple Knights stopped that with a goal with 3:42 remaining, then tied it with 2:55 left.
• Both goalkeepers made a late save and the game remained tied at two after 15 minutes.
2nd Quarter
• Bridgeport took a penalty less than a minute into the frame and GCU capitalized.
• Just 17 seconds after the foul, Matt Dorrian took a feed from Harrison Jordan and broke the tie.
• After another Vincent Burkhart save, Millan Webster carried into the offensive zone and finished the job himself for a 4-2 lead.
• GCU found themselves man-up again and again converted. This time Brodie Seaborn scored for the Lions.
• A minute later, Webster did it again and 90 seconds after that it was Harrison Jordan putting the Lions up 7-2.
• It was a 5-0 run for the Lions who scored all five goals, two man-up, in less than six minutes.
• Bridgeport scored once themselves and GCU took a 7-3 lead into halftime.
3rd Quarter
• Each team started the half with goals 70 seconds apart.
• The Lions then scored back-to-back with Bridges and Doug Mackenzie lighting the lamp.
• Bridgeport got one back but Mackenzie popped another goal near the end of the third for an 11-5 lead.
4th Quarter
• The ticking clock was a good thing for the Lions. Brigeport scored the period's first goal, but more than five minutes had already ticked off.
• Following yet another UB penalty, Matt Dorrian got the goal back with the Lions fourth man-up goal of the day and GCU comfortable led 12-6 with 5:43 left.
• With less than three minutes left, Bridgeport scored three times, but it was too late as Seaborn scored his third of the game and the Lions cruised to a 13-9 win.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Doug Mackenzie totaled four points with two goals and two assists.
• Vincent Burkhart made 13 saves to earn the win.
• Brodie Seaborn scored three times.
• Matt Dorrian and Harrison Jordan each picked up three points.

For the Purple Knights
• Hunter Lizza scored twice and added an assist.
• Matthew Levantini totaled three points as well with a goal and two assists.
• Connor Cullen won 17-21 faceoffs and picked up 11 ground balls.
• Ryan Thomas and Brian Wolfe caused three turnovers each.
• Casey Dmochowski picked up 12 saves.

News and Notes
• Georgian Court remains undefeated against Bridgeport moving to 3-0.
• Matt Dorrian and Millan Webster scored their 25th career goals.
• Brodie Seaborn scored his 25th career point.
• The Lions have been consistent in both wins and losses this season. In eight games, they've only scored three different goal totals: 6, 13, and 17.
• GCU won their third straight CACC opener and improved to 6-1 in conference openers.
