GARDEN CITY, NY (March 21, 2025) - Georgian Court Softball went on the road Friday to start a busy weekend with a doubleheader against Northeast-10 foe Adelphi. After a hard-fought 5-3 loss in game one, the Lions were shut out in game two, falling 8-0 to the Panthers in five innings.
Game 1 - Adelphi 5, Georgian Court 3
How it Happened
• Each team collected just six hits and left a ton on base.
• The Lions stranded 10 total runners and the Panthers eight.
• GCU made three errors in the field which led to two unearned runs. Adelphi's lone error didn't lead to any addition runs scored.
• Georgian Court walked five times, but also struck out five times. Adelphi drew three walks and fanned three times.

Janelle Blaszka got off to red hot start, striking out the side in the first inning.
• In the second, the Lions led off with a walk and a single, but Adelphi found their way out unharmed.
• GCU finally broke through in the third.

Reagan Winn followed with a two-run double for a 3-0 lead.
• The Panthers started to chip away in the bottom of the third. They led off with a single and a hit by pitch, and brought home their first run on a sacrifice bunt. Blaszka stranded two in scoring position to hold a 3-1 lead after three.
• Adelphi again put the first two on to lead off the fourth. A pair of productive outs scored a run.
• GCU should have been out of the fourth ahead 3-2, but infield errors on back-to-back hitters plated two runs and Adelphi grabbed their first lead, 4-3.
• The Lions were primed to grab the lead back, loading the bases with nobody out in the fifth, but Adelphi pulled a magic act, getting a pop out, ground out and fly out to end the inning with all three runners stranded.
• Adelphi added a run with back-to-back doubles in the fifth for a 5-3 lead. They worked around traffic in the sixth and seventh to hang on to the 5-3 win.

Janelle Blaszka started and gave up four runs, two earned, on four hits with three strikeouts.

Ella Moore collected a pair of singles, scored and knocked in a run.

For the Panthers
• Jordyn Pasqueralli was 1-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
• Jenna Plue threw the first three innings allowing three runs on three hits.
• Lily Kenney got the win. She also allowed three hits, but no runs.
• Julianna Sanzone finished 2-4 with a double.
Game 2 - Adelphi - 8, Georgian Court 0 - 5 Innings
How it Happened
• Georgian Court managed just three hits in game two, all singles.
• The Panthers slugged 10 for eight runs, four going for extra-bases.
• Adelphi walked six Lion batters, but was able to escape each jam. GCU totaled 10 runners left on base.
• Both teams made a pair of errors in the field. The Lions allowed one unearned run.
• It didn't take long for the Panthers to start the scoring. They scored at least once in each of the first three innings.
• Three of their four extra-base hits came in the first innings. Two doubles scored two runs before Maddy Moore lifted a home run to center to score two more and it was a 4-0 Panther lead.
• An error in the outfield allowed the leadoff batter on. After she stole third, a ground ball scored her for a 5-0 lead.
• Adelphi pushed the lead to 8-0 with three in the third. A pair of run-scoring singles drove in three for the Panthers.
• Georgian Court left runners on base in each inning, including leaving them loaded in the fifth, but couldn't push a run across in the 8-0 loss.

Cheyenne Jackson singled twice in three at bats.

Reagan Winn reached twice with a single and a walk.

Julia Lapp entered in the second inning and gave up four runs, three earned on seven hits.
For the Panthers
• Tori Parente walked six and allowed three singles with just one strikeout, but didn't allow a run to earn the win.
• Makayla Comer doubled twice, singled and scored two runs.
• Maddy Moore homered and knocked in two runs.
• Zee Zee Shreter reached base twice with a hits and a walk and scored twice.
News and Notes
• In game one,
Janelle Blaszka struck out the side in order in the first inning. The Panthers did not strike out again the rest of the game.
• Georgian Court left 20 total runners on base in the two games. They got the leadoff batter on in seven of 12 innings, but were just 3-22 with runners in scoring position.
• In 10 innings, Adelphi got the leadoff runner on in nine.

Lia DeMaio took her 150th career at bat.
•
Janelle Blaszka moved to ninth in the NCAA in strikeouts at GCU.
• The Lions have now dropped seven straight to Adelphi dating back to 2022 and haven't scored more than three runs in any of those seven games.
