LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 22, 2025) - Georgian Court Softball was back home for another conference doubleheader. This time against one of the premier teams in the league, Bridgeport. The Purple Knights' pitching proved too much for the Lions and UB took both ends, 7-1 and 10-2. Georgian Court falls to 2-2 in conference action this season.
Game 1 - Bridgeport 7, Georgian Court 1
How it Happened
• Pitching was the story for the Purple Knights. They allowed just one run on three hits while striking out 13.
• Georgian Court surrendered seven runs on eight hits, but also walked six.
• Of the Purple Knights' eight hits, they connected for two doubles and a home run.
• UB played a clean game in the field. GCU made one error leading to one unearned run.
• Despite scoring seven, Bridgeport left a ton base, stranding 10 runners.
• Bridgeport put the first three on base in the first. A hit by pitch brought in the first run before Samantha Ledger connected for a long grand slam to center for a 5-0 lead.

Janelle Blaszka settled down after the first. The Knights threatened in each inning, but stranded two in innings two through five.
• Georgian Court finally put a run on the board in the bottom of the fifth.
Gabriella Aleman was hit on the hand and
Mikayla LaPlaca went opposite field with single to drive her in.
• Bridgeport put up another crooked number in the sixth. After getting the first two one, Mya Jones doubled to right center to drive in two and put the Purple Knights up 7-1.
• That was all the scoring as Bridgeport won game one 7-1.

Gabriella Aleman singled and was hit by a pitch. She scored the Lions only run.

Mikayla LaPlaca drove in the GCU run with a single.

Cheyenne Jackson doubled in two official at bats.
•
Janelle Blaszka threw 134 pitches and allowed seven runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.
For the Purple Knights
• Katie Burawski was nearly unhittable going the distance allowing one run on three hits with 13 strikeouts.
• Madison D'Amato reached base five times with a single, double and three walks. She scored twice.
• Samantha Ledger had the big hit, a grand slam and walked.
• Sydnee Perreault was 2-3 with a pair of runs scored.
• Mya Jones doubled and drove in two.Â
Game 2 - Bridgeport 10, Georgian Court 2
How it Happened
• Bridgeport pounded out 11 hits to score 10 runs with four doubles and a home run.
• The Lions collected four hits and scored twice.
• UB was sound in the field again, not making an error. GCU was charged with just one error which led to two unearned runs.
• Bridgeport again took an early lead. A leadoff walk and a Mya Jones single put the Purple Knights up 1-0.
• UB added another run in the second. Paityn Thibodeaux led off the inning with a no doubt home run to left.
• The Purple Knights exploded for six in the third. Emily Chase the biggest hit, a bases loaded, two-out double. After a GCU error, Bridgeport plated two more on Madison D'Amato's double that took a bad hop over
Gabriella Aleman's glove and UB led 8-0.
• All with two outs, Georgian Court got three straight two out hits, the third a two-run scoring double to right from
Ella Moore to cut the lead to 8-2.
• Bridgeport got those two runs right back in the fourth. They put the first two on and McKenzie Morgan's two-rbi single up middle put the lead back to eight, 10-2.
• The Lions failed to score over the final two innings, and the game ended after five, 10-2.Â

• Vise Zarate went the distance allowing just two runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts.
• Mya Jones was 3-3 with a double and two RBI.
• Paityn Thibodeau homered and scored twice.
• Emily Chase doubled and knocked in three runs.Â

• This was the first doubleheader sweep for either side since Bridgeport joined the CACC ahead of the 2023 season.

Isabella Molina played in her 40th career game.
