LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 28, 2025) - Georgian Court Acrobatics and Tumbling took to the floor once again Friday evening. GCU went up against one of the top teams in the country in Long Island University. Although GCU was dealing with some injuries, for the third straight meet they hit the 200 point mark. In the end, they still fell to the Sharks, 249.50-201.295.
Georgian Court nearly hit an event record right out of the gates. They scored 27.70 in compulsory which just .05 points short of their all-time best. The Lions tied a record scoring 9.25 in the toss and set a new one with a 3.0 in the tumbling event. GCU also scored 6.30 in the acro and 9.15 in the pyramid. LIU totaled 34.150 points for the compulsory event.Â
LIU pulled away in the acro heat. They scored 62.10 to the Lions 48.85. Georgian Court did set a new heat record in the 7-element. They scored 7.75. GCU also scored a 7.85 in the 5-element and a 5.55 in the 6-element.Â
The Lions closed the first half on a high note. They scored a new record 9.55 in the open pyramid. They started the pyramid event with a 6.95 in the inversion and an 8.75 in the synchronized for an event total of 25.25.
The Sharks scored a 28.70 in the event, scoring better than 9.0 in all three heats.
At the end of the first half, LIU was in front 90.800-74.100.
Georgian Court started the second half with a very consistent toss event. Even though they didn't set any heat records, their score of 23.25 is a new event record. GCU scored 8.15 in the 450-Salto, 7.60 in the Synchronized and 7.50 in the Open toss. LIU finished the event with a 27.20.
The Lions put together their strongest tumbling performance of the 2025 season. They scored 41.325 which is a new season-best. Starting the synchronized passes, GCU scored a 7.45 in the duo pass, 6.05 in the trio and 5.25 in the quad. The individual passes saw
Louanne Legregin score a 7.65 in the aerial,
Kathryn Santise an 8.175 in the 6-element and
Ashley Salvesen a 6.75 in the open pass. LIU scored a 50.0 and headed into the team event with a lead of 168.0-138.675.
The final event of the evening was the team event. GCU needed a bit less than 62 points to secure their third straight meet scoring above 200. The Lions did just that, scoring 62.62 and finished with a meet total, 201.295. LIU scored an 81.50 for the team event to hold on to the win with a 249.50 total.Â
Georgian Court has one meet left this season. They host Caldwell Thursday, April 10 at 6 pm from the Wellness Center. These teams met earlier in the season in the Lions closest match to date. Caldwell got the win by just 2.04 points.Â
