LAKEWOOD, NJ (March 29, 2025) - There's one fewer unbeaten team in the CACC after today and it sure isn't Georgian Court. In a battle of 2-0 teams, Georgian Court took down Post 14-10, improving to 3-0. The Lions are the first team to reach 3-0 in the CACC with Chestnut Hill playing later today and Wilmington next week. GCU also moved back over .500 overall at 6-5.
How it Happened
• It started in the faceoff circle where Georgian Court won 17-27.
• That helped the Lions gain possession and led to a 43-32 lead in shots.Â
• Georgian Court peppered the net more today rather than waiting for a perfect set up. Despite being +11 in total shots, shots on goal were even at 21.
• With those extra possessions though came more turnovers. GCU lost the ball 23 times to the Eagles 19. Post also was quicker on the ground with a 36-29 lead in ground balls.
• GCU committed three penalties and saw Post convert on two man-up opportunities. The Lions also scored twice man-up on four Post penalties.
1st Quarter
• It was a very evenly matched game. Post struck first scoring nearly four minutes in.
• The Lions took a 2-1 lead with goals from
Brodie Seaborn and
Brett Bridges midway through the period.
• Post found the equalizer though with 5:11 left to tie things at two.
• GCU had their first man-up chance in the closing minute of the first and they converted at
Harrison Jordan found
Matt Dorrian for a power play goal to give the Lions the lead.
2nd Quarter
• Post quickly scored twice in teh first two minutes of quarter number two and grabbed the lead back, 4-3.
• One of those Eagle goals came on a man-up opportunity.Â
• But Georgian Court had an answer. They scored four straight, tying the game just 39 seconds after Post took the lead as
Matt Dorrian scored the tying goal.
• Another Post penalty meant another man-up goal for the Lions. This time Jordan found
Doug Mackenzie and GCU was back in front.
• Mackenzie scored again and Bridges added his second and suddenly it was a 7-4 Lion lead.
• The Eagles hung tough and scored twice in the final three minutes of the half to pull within one, 7-6 at halftime.
3rd Quarter
• Georgian Court took a penalty as the horn sounded to end the second quarter. That meant Post started the second half on the power play and it was a locked-in penalty.Â
• Post made it three straight goals as they scored 22 seconds into the half.
• The Lions though won the important faceoff and were able to kill off the rest of the locked in penalty with the game still tied at seven.
• GCU's offense came back to life and scored five straight in a 6:31 span.
•
Harrison Jordan started it with consecutive goals to give the Lions their lead back.
• Mackenzie, Seaborn and Bridges all scored during the rally.
• Again though, Post hung around. They scored two more at the end of the third and go back to within three, 12-9, through three quarters.
4th Quarter
• Post inched closer with their third straight goal, all coming from Will Brien, and with 13:37 left to play it was a two-goal game, 12-10.
• Bridges stopped the Post run with his fourth of the game, all set up by Mackenzie. He caused a turnover and a failed Post clear, picked up the ground ball, fed Bridges quickly in transition who buried the shot to put the Lions back up three.
• Mackenzie would score again with under five minutes to play and GCU was able to run out the clock the rest of the way to improve to 3-0 in the CACC.
