LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 2, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse picked up their biggest win of the season Wednesday afternoon. It didn't start well, as Chestnut Hill scored the first four goals, but the Lions chipped away in a defensive battle. They took their first lead late in the fourth and put the game away with a flurry in an exciting finish to a 10-7 win. GCU remains unbeaten in the CACC at 4-0 and improve to 7-5 overall. Chestnut Hill was unbeaten in conference play entering the game, and falls to 3-1.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court dominated the faceoff circle winning 16-21.
• Still though, Chestnut Hill had the edge in shots, 38-30. GCU was up one in shots on goal, 24-23.
• Thanks in part to the faceoff wins, GCU was up in ground balls 36-28.
• Both teams had problems with turnovers. The Lions lost the ball 21 times and the Griffins 19.
• Special teams played a big role. There were no penalties in the first half. In the second, GCU went 2-3 with the extra attacker and Chestnut Hill was 0-2.
1st Quarter
• It was a disaster of a start for the Lions. After five scoreless minutes, Chestnut Hill broke through for a 1-0 lead.
• The Griffins scored the first four goals of the game and led 4-0 with less than two minutes remaining.
• Georgian Court finally got on the Matt as
Matt Dorrian scored and it was a 4-1 game after one.
2nd Quarter
•
Tyler Burns scored less than a minute into the quarter, but Chestnut Hill answered and maintained a three-goal lead, 5-2.
• The Lions finished the half with two more goals.
•
Brodie Seaborn made it 5-3 and
Doug Mackenzie got GCU to within one, 5-4 at the end of the half.
3rd Quarter
• Less than two minutes in, Chestnut Hill got some breathing room with an early second-half goal.
• Three minutes later,
Neil Spira got the goal back to make it one-goal game.
• Our first penalty came and GCU took advantage.
Harrison Jordan found Dorrian and he tied the game up at six.
• Neither team scored in the final six minutes of the third and we headed to the fourth tied 6-6. GCU killed off a penalty as
Max Dennington caused a turnover.
4th Quarter
• It was still a 6-6 game nearly 10 minutes into the fourth.
• Georgian Court killed off a penalty and then it was their turn to go on the power play.
• With the extra-attacker,
Brodie Seaborn hit
Brett Bridges and he gave the Lions their first lead of the game, 7-6, with 5:39 to play.
• The lead didn't even last two minutes as CHC scored for the first time since early in the third to tie the game at seven.
• But on the ensuing faceoff,
Stephen Albanese pushed the ball to Bridges who found a streaking
Doug Mackenzie who finished and gave the Lions the lead back, 8-7, with 3:47 to play.
• A little more than a minute later,
Matt Dorrian made it a two-goal lead and seven second later Mackenzie iced it with his third goal for the 10-7 final score.

• Adam Daley made 14 saves in a losing effort.
• Mick Kilgallon scored three times.
• Will Duddy added two goals.
• Carter Getz and Daniel Myers each grabbed five ground balls. Myers also caused four turnovers.

• The last time Georgian Court scored 10 or more goals against Chestnut Hill wasa April 28, 2022 in a 17-15 loss.
• The last time GCU scored 10 or more in a win was May 4, 2019, winning 11-10.
