Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Low Scoring Game at Assumption Doesn't Go Lions Way

WORCESTER, Ma. (March 8, 2025) - Goals were at a premium Saturday afternoon in Massachusetts. Playing in near freezing temperatures, the offenses of Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse and Assumption appeared to be stuck under ice. In the end, Assumption was able to score just enough to pull out an 8-6 win over the Lions.

How it Happened
• As expected in a two-goal game, most of the team statistics were very close.
• Georgian Court led in shots, 44-38, but the Greyhounds led in shots on goal 28-24.
• Faceoff numbers were also close. Assumption won 10-18 and the Lions 8-18.
• Each team scored one power play goal, though GCU was flagged one and the Greyhounds five times.
• Assumption was a perfect 25-25 on clear attempts but still turned the ball over 21 times. GCU lost it 17 times and were 21-24 on clearances.
1st Quarter
• It was a strong opening quarter for the Lions who jumped out in front early.
• An early Assumption penalty gave the Lions a man-up opportunity and Vincent Burns converted for a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the game.
• After Assumption found the equalizer, Brett Bridges gave the Lions the lead back and Doug Mackenzie made it 3-1.
• The Greyhounds got one back to close the first, but GCU was still ahead by a goal, 3-2.
2nd Quarter
• That late Greyhounds goal in the first flipped the script.
• That goal started a 6-0 run for the Greyhounds which included a 3-0 second quarter.
• Assumption scored twice in a 36 second span and led by two, 5-3, at the break.
3rd Quarter
• Assumption started the half getting a penalty and converting man-up for a 6-3 lead.
• They added another before Brodie Seaborn scored to make it 7-4.
• The Greyhounds scored again with less than 90 seconds left in the third and were back up four, 8-4, heading to the fourth.
4th Quarter
• Georgian Court's defense did a great job keeping GCU in the game.
• The Lions didn't allow a goal in the fourth.
• Seaborn scored again making it 8-5 with just under 10 minutes to play to give GCU some life.
• GCU just couldn't get much going against that Greyhound defense.
• Seaborn made it a hat trick scoring with less than a minute to play, but it was too late and Assumption held on for an 8-6 win.
