WILSON, NC (March 8, 2025) - Georgian Court Softball started their spring break trip Saturday afternoon in Wilson, NC. The Lions dropped each end of their doubleheader with Barton 8-0 in five innings.
Game 1 - Barton 8, Georgian Court 0
How it Happened
• The Lions managed just three hits while Barton collected nine in five innings.
• GCU committed a pair of errors which led to two unearned runs.
• Lion pitching struck out three and walked four while the Bulldogs struck out five, walking two.
• It was a scoreless game until the third. The first five for Barton all reached base with four coming in to score.
• A bases loaded double was the biggest hit in the inning, plating two.
• It could have been even more if not for an inning ending double play that saw
Lia DeMaio throw out a runner at third to end the frame.
• The Bulldogs added three more in the fourth and a run in the fifth. The run in the fifth ended the game, 8-0.
Game 2 - Barton 8, Georgian Court 0
How it Happened
• The line score in game two was exactly the same as game one.
• Barton scored eight runs on nine hits with one error. GCU was held scoreless on three hits while committing a pair of fielding errors.
• The first Barton run scored in the second on a dropped third strike.Â
• They then exploded for six in the third. A pair of RBI doubles scored three of the runs.
• Barton picked up one more in the fourth leading off the inning with a double and a run.
• Georgian Court loaded the bases in the fifth, but a pop out ended the game after five innings.
