JACKSON, NJ (April 1, 2025) - Georgian Court took on maybe their toughest opponent to date in 19th ranked Jefferson. The Lions had their offense cooking in game one scoring 11 runs, but it still wasn't enough in a 19-11 loss. Game two GCU ran into a buzzsaw in the Rams starting pitcher who threw a one-hitter as GCU fell 15-0.
Game 1 - Jefferson 19, Georgian Court 11
How it Happened
• It was a hitter's paradise with 30 combined runs and 28 hits.
• The team's also walked a combined 18 batters.
• Jefferson finished with 11 left on base and Georgian Court nine.
• Of the 30 runs, 10 were scored in the opening inning. Jefferson put up three with three infield singles.
• The Lions responded with a seven-run first.
Israel Garcia singled to drive in a run, then two bases-loaded walks tied the game.
• Still with the bases loaded,
Kody Lewis cleared them with a double down the left field line.Â

Carter Rieben also used the left field line for a double of his own to score Lewis and GCU was up 7-3 after one.
• After the first though, the next 16 runs all went to the Rams. They scored four in the third to tie, then took the lead with a five-run fourth.
• A J Lopez two-run home run added to a four-run sixth and three run-scoring hits in the seventh put the Rams up 19-7.
• Georgian Court needed three runs in the seventh to extend the game, and that's what they got.
Jack Greenspan,
Colby McMahon and
Oliver Santana all singled to drive in runs to keep the game going.
• Lion pitchers kept the Rams quiet in the eighth and ninth, but all GCU could do in the ninth was score on a sacrifice fly and the game ended 19-11.

For the Rams
• Javon Hernandez was on base six times with three hits and three walks. He scored three runs.
• Justin Espinal drove in three runs with two hits.
• Will Hoffman threw the final three innings allowing just an unearned run and striking out three.Â
• Matthew Pashley got the win throwing 3.2 innings allowing a run on three hits with four strikeouts.Â
• Joshua Lopez homered and drove in two runs.Â
Game 2 - Jefferson 15, Georgian Court 0
How it Happened
• Jefferson scored 15 runs on 12 hits. They clubbed four extra-base hits including three home runs.
• Georgian Court made two errors in the field which led to an unearned run.
• The Rams struck out 11 Lions while fanning just once at the plate.
• Jefferson walked six times and issued just one.Â
• After a scoreless first, Jefferson climbed on top with a three-run second. They scored in a multitude of ways with an RBI single, ground out and a run-scoring error.
• The Rams scored seven times on four hits in the third. Thomas Matuszewski started the scoring with a two-run homer. They scored again on a sacrifice fly before Joshua Lopez drove in three with a bases clearing double for a 10-0 Ram lead.
• They added two more in the fourth on a home run from Justin Espinal.
• With two outs in the fifth, Jefferson hit their third home run of the game. Javon Hernandez kept one fair down the left field line for a two-run shot as Jefferson went up 14-0.
• Georgian Court finally got their first hit in the fifth inning. It was a bit of a fluke as
Israel Garcia's pop fly to center was lost in the night sky and fell for a double.
• A two-out RBI single in the seventh brought Jefferson to 15-0 which was the final score.Â

• Joshua Lopez went 2-4 with a double and three RBI.

• Javon Hernandez finished 2-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBI.
• Gabe Silva went the distance allowing just one hit and a walk while striking out 11.Â

• The Lions 11 runs in game on were their most since their doubleheader sweep at Bloomfield March 22.
• Georgian Court hit well with runners on base over the two games going 7-23 and 6-17 with runners in scoring position.
