LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 12, 2025) - The top two teams in the CACC squared off Saturday afternoon in Lakewood. Both Georgian Court and Wilmington entered the game unbeaten in league play, meaning one team would sit a top the league standings at the end. Unfortunately for GCU that team is Wilmington as the Wildcats pulled away late in a 16-10 win. The loss snaps the Lions three-game winning streak and drops them to 8-6 on the season, 5-1 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Many of the numbers favor Wilmington but what stands out the most is the 23-7 disparity in the Wildcats' favor in the faceoff circle.
• That gave Wilmington more time with the ball and led to 41-33 edge in shots and 31-17 edge shots on goal.
• Georgian Court was able to force Wilmington into more turnovers, 26-20. Teams were about even on clear attempts as Wilmington was 18-23 and Georgian Court 18-22.
• Both teams took four penalties for 2:30. The Lions didn't score on any man-up opportunity while Wilmington converted once on a man-up chance.

• The Wildcats scored five goals in 30 minutes, then started the second half on a 4-0 run scoring four goals in 3:15 and went up 9-3.
• Georgian Court slowly chipped away getting contributions from everyone.
• First it was
Tyler Burns. Then his brother
Vincent Burns. Then
Harrison Jordan before Dorrian scored again and with 3:43 left in the third, it was right back to a two-goal game, 9-7.
• But the ends of quarters were not friends of the Lions. Wilmington scored twice in the final 90 seconds including again with just six left to play in the period. They went to the fourth with an 11-7 lead.
