Lions Conference Winning Streak Reaches Five After Win at Caldwell

CALDWELL, NJ (April 5, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse's unbeaten streak in conference play continued Saturday afternoon. The Lions got a good fight from Caldwell, but the Cougars couldn't hold back the Lions offense and GCU pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 12-7 win.

How it Happened
• Turnovers were a big part in the game, especially considering both teams won 11-of-22 faceoffs.
• Georgian Court forced the Cougars into 24 turnovers while GCU gave it away just 13 times themselves.
• The Lions led in shots 12-7 and shots on goal 49-29.
• GCU was called for six penalties which kept the Lions back on their heels a bit. GCU was strong on the penalty kill though allowing just one extra-man goal in six opportunities.
1st Quarter
• The game remained scoreless through much of the opening quarter as the goalkeepers were putting on a display.
• Vincent Burkhart made three saves for the Lions and Edin Himmel Maines made three stops for Caldwell.
• Caldwell finally broke the scoreless tie with 6:49 to play in the period.
• The lead didn't last long as 1:27 later after forcing a Caldwell turnover, Brodie Seaborn scored to tie the game.
• Doug Mackenzie scored to break the tie with 1:27 left and in the final seconds, after another Cougar turnover, Seaborn cashed in again with just nine seconds left for a 3-1 lead after one quarter.
2nd Quarter
• Caldwell made it a one-goal game scoring 95 seconds into the second.
• Brett Bridges then took over scoring three goals in less than four minutes.
• His first two came just eight seconds apart with Stephen Albanese winning a faceoff and dishing to Bridges who scored.
• Mackenzie also scored during a 4-0 Lion run as they went up 7-2.
• Caldwell had some fight left. They got a man-up goal with less than a minute left.
• Vincent Burkhart came up with another save in the closing seconds of the half to keep the Lions lead at 7-3.
3rd Quarter
• That Caldwell goal at the end of the second was the start of a 3-0 Caldwell run.
• What interesting is that 3-0 run was spread over over three quarters and 19:09 of game time.
• Georgian Court did not score a goal in the third, but allowed just one and were still up 7-4.
• The Lions did not have a shot on goal in the third while Burkhart made four saves.
4th Quarter
• All three goals during that 3-0 run were scored by Conor Pinkham.
• He scored the third with 13:28 left to play and got the Cougars to within two, 7-5.
• Brett Bridges finally ended the Lions scoring drought and broke through with a goal at the 11:10 mark.
• Two minutes later, Harrison Jordan scored putting GCU back up five, 9-5.
• Caldwell still didn't quit and again it was Pinkham. He scored twice more in a 2:12 span cutting the lead back to two, 9-7.
• Down the stretch though, Georgian Court proved to be too much and had too many weapons.
