LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 2, 2025) - It was a dramatic finish to game two of Georgian Court Softball's doubleheader with Wilmington. After the Wildcats scored two in the top of the seventh to take the lead, Georgian Court answered with two of their own in the home half as
Ella Moore's double helped the Lions walk off Wilmington 6-5. The win keeps Georgian Court .500 in conference play at 5-5.
Game 2 - Georgian Court 6, Wilmington 5
How it Happened
• Both teams collected eight hits and made two fielding errors.
• Only Wilmington allowed an unearned run.
• Wilmington had their chances leaving eight on base.
• Both teams went down 1-2-3 in the first. In the top of the inning,
Kristy Regalado made all three put outs in left field.
• It took until the third for a run to cross the plate. With the bases loaded thanks to a pair of walks and an infield single,
Reagan Winn punched one to the opposite field for a single to drive in two and give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
• Wilmington answered with two of their own in the top of the fourth. They loaded the bases with one out and tied the game with out the benefit of a hit. A walk and a hit by pitch brought in the tying run and made it a brand new ball game.
• Georgian Court reclaimed the lead in the fifth.
Kaylin Curro led off with a double. As
Cheyenne Jackson was bunting her over to third, Jackson beat the throw and dislodged the ball from the glove of the second baseman allowing Curro to score the go-ahead run.
• One batter later,
Gabriella Aleman poked a seeing-eye single allowing Jackson to score and putting the Lions up 4-2.
• Wilmington inched closer getting a run in the sixth. Emma Zimmerman's two-out RBI single made it a 4-3 game.
• The Wildcats took their first lead in the seventh. They utilized three stolen bases in the inning to manufacture the game tying run.
• With two outs, an RBI double gave Wilmington a 5-4 lead.
• Georgian Court had one last chance.
Kaylin Curro reached on an error and
Cheyenne Jackson singled to put the tying and winning run on base.
Ella Moore stepped to the plate and drove one to left center just past the outstretched glove of the centerfielder. Curro and Jackson both scored on the play as GCU walked off with a game-two 6-5 win.

How it Happened
• Wilmington scored six runs on nine hits with five of those coming in the first two innings.
• The Lions grabbed a run in the sixth and collected five hits.
• The Wildcats hit two home runs while all five Lion hits were singles.
• Lots of balls put in play. Just two total strikeouts and four walks along with a hit batter.
• Wilmington grabbed a 3-0 lead early. A run scored on a passed ball and one pitch later Bella Barnes went deep to left for a two-run home run.
• They scored two more in the second on another two-run home run. Emma Zimmerman was bunting early in the count, but swung away on 0-2 and went deep to left center for a 5-0 lead.
• The Wildcats added on with a run in the fourth. Tristyn Stewart knocked in a run with a two-out RBI single to center.
• Georgian Court got something brewing the fifth. After
Ella Moore got the Lions first hit in the fourth, GCU loaded the bases with three straight singles to lead off the fifth. Wilmington though got a strikeout and a pair of groundouts to escape the jam with the shutout still intact.
• The Lions threatened again in the sixth and this time they cashed in. With two outs,
Cheyenne Jackson legged out an infield single as
Ella Moore came in to score and make it a 6-1 game.

I always tell them never give up. We've had games like that all season. That last inning we had some fight in us and put pressure on Wilmington and came up big in that situation.

I tell them to play their game and let's hit. I said keep fighting. This is our game.
