Janelle Blaszka's No-Hitter Fuels Lions Sweep at Post

WATERBURY, Conn. (April 21, 2025) - Georgian Court had quite the exciting afternoon Monday at Post. The swept a doubleheader winning in two completely different ways. Game one was as low-scoring as you can get, a 1-0 pitcher's duel in which Janelle Blaszka hurled the second no-hitter of her career. Game two saw the bats come to life in an 11-7 win.

Game 1 - Georgian Court 1, Post 0
How it Happened

• Janelle Blaszka was dealing from the get-go. She struck out eight, throwing 101 pitches in her second career no-hitter.
• She needed to be on her game too because the Lions offense, despite nine hits, left 11 on base and scored just one time.
• Georgian Court left the bases loaded
• A two-out rally from the bottom of the order scored the only run in the fourth.
• Kristy Regalado kept the inning alive with a two-out double and Lia DeMaio followed with a triple to bring in the game's first run.
• From there it was all Blaszka who set the next 12 Eagles down in order to complete the 1-0 no-hit win.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Janelle Blaszka's final line saw her throw 101 pitches across seven no-hit innings with eight strikeouts and one walk.
• Lia DeMaio had a three-hit day with an RBI triple.
• Kristy Regalado doubled and scored.
• Brooklyn Ragland singled twice in four at bats.

For the Eagles
• Alyssa Hughes tossed a great game as well allowing a run on nine hits in seven innings.
• Nyla Sapia was the only base-runner. She drew a two-out walk in the first.

Game Two - Georgian Court 11, Post 7
How it Happened

• Both teams knocked double-figure hits with the Lions scoring 11 runs on 12 hits and Post seven runs on 11 hits.
• Despite Post's three fielding errors, all 11 GCU runs were earned. The Lions one error led to one Post unearned run.
• Georgian Court worked out of some trouble stranding nine Eagles in scoring position.
• After being no-hit in game one, Post ensured that wasn't happening a second time.
• They got a two-out rally going starting with a walk and a bases-loaded single plated two for a 2-0 Eagles lead.
• Another two-out RBI, this time a triple, put the Eagles ahead 3-0 after two innings.
• Georgian Court finally got their offense going in the third. Ella Moore drove in Kaylin Curro with a one-out single.
• With the bases loaded and still only one out, Brooklyn Ragland gave the Lions the lead. She drove in two with a single and an error allowed a third run to score the go-ahead run.
• The Lions weren't finished as one batter later Gabriella Aleman drove in Ragland with a double. Aleman scored the Lions sixth run of the inning on a Kristy Regalado ground ball.
• Reagan Winn made it 7-3 with a two-out RBI single to bring in Cheyenne Jackson in the fourth.
• Post didn't quit and made it a two-run game with a two-run fourth. An RBI fielder's choice and a two-out run-scoring hit cut the Lions lead in half to 7-5.
• The Eagles continued to chip away, getting another run in the fifth on another two-RBI base hit and the lead was down to one, 7-6.
• Georgian Court created some breathing room in the sixth however. Kaylin Curro led off with her eigth triple of the season and scored on Cheyenne Jackson's RBI double.
• Reagan Winn singled to make it 9-6. Mikayla LaPlaca followed suit with a single of her own and a sacrifice fly made it 11-6 GCU.
• The insurance proved necessary as the Eagles led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk and a double. They only got one run in though on a ground ball and stranded a runner on third.
• Down four, Post never got a runner on base in the seventh as Lillian Noyes set the Eagles down in order to hold on to the 11-7 win.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Brooklyn Ragland had a three-hit game going 3-4 with two runs and two RBI.
• Cheyenne Jackson singled, doubled and scored three runs. She also walked twice.
• Reagan Winn went 2-3 with two singles, two runs and two RBI.
• Kaylin Curro walked, tripled and scored twice.
• Gabriella Aleman collected two hits, scored and drove in a run.
• Lillian Noyes got the win out of the bullpen allowing four runs, three earned on six hits with four strikeouts.
