WILMINGTON, Del. (April 23, 2025) - Georgian Court Baseball played in their final cross-division CACC doubleheader of the season Wednesday. Wilmington was the last CACC South Division opponent on the schedule. The Wildcats swept GCU in the doubleheader, 10-4 and 9-2.
Game 1 - Wilmington 10, Georgian Court 4
How it Happened
• Wilmington used the long ball, connecting for three home runs among eight hits to score 10 runs.
• The Lions pounded out eight hits, three for extra bases, and scored four times.
• Errors were a problem for the Lions. They made five and allowed five unearned runs to score.
• GCU pitchers walked five, while Lion hitters struck out 10 times.
• After two scoreless innings, Wilmington scored two in the third and three times in the fifth.
• Three of those runs were unearned and there were only two run-scoring hits.

Zinny Kemahu broke the shutout for the Wildcats with a solo home run in the fifth.
• That was answered though by a Wildcat solo shot in the bottom of the inning.
• In the sixth, it was the Lions turn to take advantage of the Wildcats defense. They scored on a throwing error and
Alex Elliott's double later in the inning brought in
Carter Rieben to make it a 7-3 game.
• Wilmington though hit homers in the seventh and eight to go on top 10-3.
• The Lions put some runners on base in the ninth and scored on a sacrifice fly, but fell 10-4.

Alex Elliott singled, doubled and drove in a run.

Zinny Kemahu had three hits in four at bats including a home run.

Tomas Tamargo doubled and scored.

Carter Rieben singled, scored and picked up an RBI.

For the Wildcats
• John Klepacki threw the first four innings allowing just two hits and fanning four.
• Brandon Grygo finished 2-4 with a home run, three runs scored and three RBI.
• Cam Trego scored three times. He homered and drove in a run.
• CJ Nocella singled twice and walked, drove in two runs and scored once.
Game 2 - Wilmington 9, Georgian Court 2 - 7 Innings
How it Happened
• The Wildcats got excellent pitching allowing just two hits in the game.
• They again displayed their power collecting 16 hits, four doubles and two home runs.
• Both teams did a good job putting the ball in play. There were just a combined four walks and seven strikeouts.
• Wilmington scored in each of the first three innings. A two-out RBI single in the first made it a 1-0 game.
• Another two-out hit, this time a double, put Wilmington up 2-0 through two.
• Georigan Court was still searching for their first hit when Wilmington broke the game open in the third.
• They hit two two-run home runs in the inning and scored six runs on six hits to take an 8-0 lead.
• The Lions picked up their only hits and runs in the fourth.
Alex Elliott led off with a single and
Sammy Cruz drove him in with a double.
• Two ground balls moved Cruz around the bases and he scored on
Joshua Moreno's RBI groundout.
• Wilmington added a run in the sixth and set down the Lions in order in the seventh for the 9-2 win.

Sammy Cruz doubled in a run and scored once. He also reached on a walk.

For the Wildcats
• Garrett Quinn started and threw two hitless innings. He gave way to Scott Borgmann who finished the game allowing two runs on two hits in five innings.
• CJ Nocella reached base three times with two runs scored.
• Shawn Edevane was 2-2 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
• Zach Rosenzweig had a 3-4 day with a home run and four RBI.
News and Notes
• Zinny Kemehu's home run was the first of his career.
• Georgian Court was a perfect 3-3 on the day getting a runner in from third with less than two outs.
Up Next
• Georgian Court plays four games this weekend with nonconference doubleheaders against St. Thomas Aquinas. They'll be on the road Saturday and home Sunday at the Jackson Justice Complex. The doubleheaders start at 12 on both days.
