Women's Lacrosse Falls On the Road at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. (April 9, 2025) - Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse fell at Wilmington Wednesday afternoon, 19-9. The loss puts Georgian Court at 3-3 in league play with three games left to go. 

How it Happened
• Wilmington did an excellent job on the draw winning 19-31.
• Turnover numbers were even with GCU turning it over 14 times and Wilmington 15.
• Georgian Court really struggled on free-position shots going just 1-8. Wilmington was 0-2.
• The Wildcats took 35 shots, putting 28 on net. The Lions had 28 total shots with just 13 on target.
• There were 13 total cards, six on Wilmington and seven on Georgian Court. Wilmington was 3-7 on the power play and the Lions 0-6.
1st Quarter
• Wilmington scored twice in the first minute of the game. Ella Royer got the Wildcats on the board just nine seconds in.
Michaela Scirrotto cut the lead in half with the third goal in the first two minutes.
• Things settled down, but Wilmington finished the frame scoring three more times to lead 5-1 after one.
2nd Quarter
• A Lions card gave the Wildcats a woman-up opportunity and they cashed in to go up 6-1.
• Scirrotto scored twice more in a 53 second span to keep the Lions in the game at 6-3.
• Wilmington's offense was relentless though.
• They scored seven times in the quarter. The Lions took another penalty and with just 20 seconds left, Wilmington capitalized to lead 12-4 at the half.
Isabel Raimondi scored midway through the period and just she and Scirrotto scored first half goals. 
3rd Quarter
• Raimondi opened the second half with a goal, but Wilmington answered with two of their own.
Caitlin Petrellese and Nena Menard each tallied one to make it a 14-7 game, but the Wildcats picked up another and led 15-7 heading to the fourth.
4th Quarter
• Petrellese was able to score two more times in the fourth, but the Wildcats offense continued to pour it on.
• Wilmington started the frame with two goals and ended with two more.
• Ella Royer scored three times in the frame as the Wildcats went up and on to win by 10, 19-9.

Lion Stat Leaders
Michaela Scirrotto scored three goals and won five draws.
Caitlin Petrellese also scored three times with four ground balls.
Isabel Raimondi scored twice with an assist.
Cadence Gentile made 10 saves.

For the Wildcats
• Ella Royer scored eight times with two assists and six draw controls.
• Eden Ward picked up three goals and nine draw controls.
• Alea Javorowsky scored three times as well.
• The Wildcats split goaltenders. Ashleigh Lawry started and made fie saves for the win.
• Allison Schiavone made five second-half saves.

News and Notes
• This is just the second time the Lions have ever lost to Wilmington in 23 meetings.
Michaela Scirrotto picked up her 25th ground ball and 30th draw control.
