Volleyball to Host Lincoln (PA), and Pace for Tri-Match This Saturday

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Sept. 11, 2025) - Georgian Court Volleyball stays at home this weekend for a tri-match against a pair of nonconference foes.

Previously vs. Lincoln
• Georgian Court has never lost to Lincoln. They're a perfect 6-0 against their Lion counterparts.
• All six meetings have been since 2017 and all six meetings have been 3-0 sweeps.
• The teams last met in 2023 with the Lions winning 25-9, 25-15, 25-19.
Nylene Mateo and Giorgia Cappelletti each had double-digit kills and the Lions hit .506 as a team.
Iciar Zayas passed out 44 assists and Carmen Rivera scooped 18 digs. 

Previously vs. Pace
• This will be the 11th meeting between Georgian Court and Pace and the teams are even with five wins apiece.
• They played each of the last four seasons with each team winning two.
• Last year in Lakewood, the Lions mounted a furious comeback on the Setters.
• Pace led the match 2-0 before the Lions pulled off the reverse sweep, including an 18-16 win in the fifth set.
Nylene Mateo landed 21 kills and hit .326 for the match.
Iciar Zayas recorded 34 assists and Carmen Rivera 17 digs. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court returned a favor to Queens who defeated the Lions in three sets back in 2024.
• GCU swept the Knights in Lakewood in three tight sets, 25-23, 25-21, 28-26.
Ava Churnesky put down 17 kills and hit .311.
Genesis Simanca hit .367 with 14 kills and 16 digs.
Iciar Zayas passed out 39 assists, her second most ever in a three-set match. 

Individual Milestones
• Emma Gildea needs 14.5 points for 200 in her career. 
Carmen Rivera needs 72 digs to get to 800. 

CACC Stat Leaders (as per NCAA statistics)
• Iciar Zayas is third in the league averaging 8.75 assists per set. Her 105 total assists rank second.
• Carmen Rivera's 4.50 digs per set rank fourth.
Genesis Simanca is third in points per set with 3.55 and fourth in kills per set with 3.09.
• As a team, Georgian Court is sixth in the CACC with 2.25 aces per set.
• The Lions are also fourth in assists per set and fifth in kills per set. 

Home Sweet Home
• Last season at home, Georgian Court was 14-2 on their home court.
• The Lions have been outstanding at home playing under Coach Rayside. In her two seasons, the Lions are 24-5 playing in Lakewood after their home opening win Tuesday night.

About Lincoln
• Lincoln is off to an 0-3 start on the year after playing three games in Philadelphia last weekend.
• GCU will be their third CACC opponents as they fell last week to Holy Family and Jefferson.
• All three losses were sweeps and they hit above .100 in just one of the three matches.
• Charly Manley and Khalia Jabbie each have 13 kills.
• Ashley Fru is the primary setter with 34 assists, but has also tacked on 11 kills and 10 service aces.
• Donavyn Morris has been the defensive leader averaging 4.44 digs per set while Audreynette Lydgate and Jabbie each have 10 blocks.

About Pace
• Pace has gotten off to a 2-1 start on the season.
• The Setters have also played two CACC opponents, defeating Bridgeport 3-2 and sweeping Caldwell last week.
• Kadence Ackmann has a team-leading 29 kills in three matches while Keelah Chambliss is hitting .241 with 22 kills.
• The aptly named Setters have rolled out two setters for the most part this season. Aralyn Saulys is averaging 4.91 assists per set and Camila Rodriguez 3.73. They also each have a team-leading four service aces.
• Pace's defense has held opponents to a .137 attack percentage which is second best in the Northeast-10.
• Alice Bender has team-high 35 digs and their team reception percentage is at .932.
• Pace is not a big blocking team with just 16 in 11 sets. Emily Cineus leads the team with 10.
