Box Score New Haven, CT (Sept. 8, 2025) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer looked to bounce back after their recent loss on opening night. The Lions fell 3-0 to the Southern Connecticut Owls in a non-conference match up.  
 
How it Happened 
• Southern came out with a clear attacking edge, putting the Lions' defense under pressure from the opening whistle. 
• SCSU was able to capitalize on two of these shots late in the first half.  
• The Owls extended their lead to 3-0 in the second half after a foul in the box resulted in a penalty shot.  
 
First Half 
• Southern had 7 shots in the first half compared to GCU's 2 shots.  
• In the first half GCU's Brooke Mckown had 5 saves, trying to keep the scoreboard even.  
• The first goal of the game came at the 36th minute from SCSU's Gracie Sanders.  
• Just eight minutes later with one minute remaining in the half Isabella LaPerle put the home team up 2-0.  
Second Half 
• The Lions began the half with urgency, taking the first four shots of the half.  
• Southern's Abby Aughe, made four saves in the second half to keep GCU scoreless.  
• SCSU's Nicky Deslauriers scored a penalty after Georgian Court was called for a foul in the box with 20 minutes left.  
 
Lion Stat Leaders 
• Brooke Mckown made five saves in goal. 
• Julia Eichenbaum led the Lions with two shots on goal. 
  
For the Setters 
• Abby Aughe made four saves. 
• Gracie Sanders, Nicky Deslauriers, and Isabella LaPerle each had one goal.  
  
News and Notes 
• Chiamaka Wokocha has played over 1000 minutes in her career.  
• This is only the second time the two teams have met, GCU has lost both times.

• Georgian Court does not play again until September 17th. They will travel to East Stroudsburg, PA to play East Stroudsburg at 7pm.
