LAKEWOOD, NJ (Jan. 10, 2026) - Georgian Court women's basketball held off the Chargers to secure a 57–55 victory on Saturday.
Tyra Lovelock knocked down a clutch three-pointer with 47 seconds remaining to put the Lions ahead by two.
How it Happened
• The shooting numbers were nearly even. Dominican shot 37.7% and Georgian Court shot 34.4%.
• Dominican shot better from the perimeter, connecting on 36.4% of its three-point attempts compared to GCU's 22.2%.
• Dominican shot 11-17 from the foul line and GCU 11-16.
• The Chargers outrebounded the Lions 42-36 on the glass.
First Quarter
• The Lions opened the scoring in Lakewood with a layup by
Niyell McCargo, followed by another from
Farrah White.
• The Chargers got on the board three minutes into the game with a layup from
Isabella Javier.
• The Lions led throughout the first quarter until
Ketura Rutty converted a layup with 19 seconds remaining to put Dominican ahead by two.
Second Quarter
• Dominican held onto that lead for the majority of the second quarter.
• A pair of free throws from
Karissa Smedley gave the Lions their first lead of the second quarter.

Imani Gillette headed to the line a minute later to extend that lead.

Ketura Rutty had a layup that brought her team within one.
Third Quarter
• A strong third quarter for the Lions, who led by as much as 11 in the third.
• Seven straight points for the Lions came from
Imani Gillette.

Tamia Nunes had back-to-back threes for Dominican to cut that lead in half.
Fourth Quarter
• The Chargers came out and were ready to fire from three again and cut that lead down to two.

Tyra Lovelock went 3-3 in the final quarter from three-point range.

Ketura Rutty converted an and-one opportunity into a three-point play to give Dominican its first lead of the second half.
