PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Jan. 14, 2026) - A last second three rimmed out and left Georgian Court on the short end of a 75-72 loss at Chestnut Hill. The Griffins outscored the Lions by seven in the second half of their comeback win. The loss put the Lions at 6-10 overall and 3-5 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court shot 43.5% overall for the game and made six more field goals than Chestnut Hill who shot 37.5% overall.
• The free throw line was a big difference maker. Georgian Court, one of the better free throw shooting teams in the league, struggled on this night hitting just 6-13. The Griffins made them pay and were 19-29 at the stripe.
• CHC also shot 33% overall from three hitting 8-24 while the Lions were just 6-23.
• The Griffins had been prone to turnovers this season, but tonight committed just 12, even to Georgian Court.Â
• Chestnut Hill also led the rebounding battle, 46-43 and 16-13 on the offensive end. However it was Georgian Court who led in second chance points, 17-11.
1st Half
• Midway through the half, Georgian Court built an eight-point lead, 17-9, thanks to a
Jaycen Santucci layup.Â
• The Griffins hit a three to tie the game at 23 with 3:31 left in the half, but were unable to grab a lead.
•
Amar Lane pulled down an offensive rebound and a basket put GCU back out in front.
• Georgian Court missed a layup late in the half and the Griffins hustled down the floor to score at the buzzer and cut the Lions lead down to four, 29-25, at intermission.
2nd Half
• Baskets from Lane and
Anthony Rivera pushed the Lions lead back to a high of eight less than two minutes into the half.
• Chestnut Hill scored eight straight and a three-ball from Kamal Lee gave the Griffins their first lead, 39-38, since early in the opening half.
• The team traded the lead back and forth a few times with neither going up by more than one possession.
• Another 8-0 Griffin run capped by a three-point play from Alejandro Cybak gave CHC their largest lead to that point, 61-55 with 7:41 remaining in the game.
• Santucci followed with a three-point play of his own to cap a Lions rally and tied the game at 62.
• GCU was unable to retake the lead though and with 2:09 the Griffins regained a seven-point edge, 71-64.
• A three-point play by
Cam Edmonds plus a jumper from Lane and a three-pointer from Rivera brought GCU back within one, 73-72 with just 43 seconds remaining.
• A Griffin missed gave the Lions the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead down by one. However Georgian Court turned the ball back over the Griffins and were forced to foul.
• CHC made 1-2 and gave themselves a two point lead, 74-72 with nine seconds left to play. The Lions collected an early foul sending Lane to the line for one-and-one. He missed the front end and a rebound and another foul put the Griffins back on the free throw line.
• The Griffins again made 1-2 and Georgian Court had one last chance to tie. Following a timeout, Edmonds had a good look at a three to tie, but it went off the iron and stayed out as the buzzer sounded.
