The Lions Come From Behind To Beat Wilmington

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Jan. 20, 2026) - Georgian Court Women's Basketball completed a 14-point comeback to defeat the Wilmington Wildcats 72-58 on Tuesday night. 

How it Happened
• Lions outshot Wilmington 34.8% to 33.3%.
• The Lions had 19 fast-break points and 17 second-chance points. 
• The Wildcats shot better from three, shooting 27.8% compared to the Lions 5.3%. 
• Wilmington also out-rebounded the Lions 47-43. 

1st Quarter
• Things started in favor of Wilmington, who shot 4-6 from three in the opening 10 minutes. 
Imani Gillette kept the Lions afloat in the first quarter with nine of the Lions 19 points. 
• Wilmington led by five going into the second. 
2nd Quarter
• Wilmington continued its lead in the second, going up by as much as 14 points. 
• A layup by Gillette five minutes into the second was the Lions first points of the quarter. 
• A layup at the buzzer from Amyah Bray cut the lead down to four. 
3rd Quarter
• The third quarter consisted of the Lions aiming to cut down the deficit. 
Imani Gillette and Amyah Bray had back-to-back baskets to give the Lions their first lead of the second half with a minute remaining. 
• Wilmington trailed by two. 
4th Quarter
• The Lions ouscored Wilmington 22-10 in the last quarter.  
Samantha Jones had four steals in the last ten minutes, which led to easy buckets. 
•The Lions led late, forcing Wilmington to foul and allowing GCU to continue to pull away.
• The Lions defeated Wilmington 72-58.
