Previously vs. Felician
• Georgian Court leads the all-time series 8-4-3 however the Golden Falcons have won two straight.
• That includes a 2-0 win in the CACC Tournament in 2024 before a 4-2 win last year in Rutherford.
• The Lions led 1-0 at the half following a goal by
David Tuschmann and
Mikey Mallon made it 2-0 in the 56th minute.
• GCU still led 2-1 with four minutes remaining before the Falcons scored three times to steal the win.
• Playing at home, Georgian Court is 5-1-2 against the Golden Falcons.
Previously vs. Monroe
• This is the first ever meeting between Georgian Court and Monroe.
Last Time Out
• Georgian Court got all they could handle from Chestnut Hill Tuesday night but still came out the other side with a win.
• Twice the Lions trailed and twice
Gijs van Eif tied the game.
• Georgian Court even played the final 42 minutes down a man as a red card sent a player off.
• In the 84th minute, van Eif started the play and
Jack Pollintine-Smith finished it, scoring the game winner in a 3-2 win.
CACC Stat Leaders
• Georgian Court has deployed a potent offense through seven games. They lead the CACC in goals, assists and points and are top-30 in the nation in all three categories.
• The Lions 2.44 goals and 6.89 points per game lead the league as well and are top-20 nationally.
• GCU has done so while also taking some of the fewest fouls in the league. Their 10.33 fouls per game are the fourth-fewest in the CACC and their 15 yellow cards are the fewest.
• Individually,
Gijs van Eif is sitting second with 2.22 points per game, which is top-10 in the country. His six assists lead the league and his seven goals are tied for the most.
•
Sander Rynning and
Leo Elder rank sixth in the league with three goals scored.
•
Lennox Blue Lebelt's 2.0 goals against average are eighth in the league.
Individual Milestones
•
Gijs van Eif needs one more shots on goal to reach 100. He's also one point away from sole possession of second all-time in Lions history.
•
Jack Pollintine-Smith needs two points to get to 20.
•
Felix Kramper is 170 minutes short of 2,000.
•
Bryan Sanchez is one game-played away from 30.
History in the Making
• It will be a pretty history weekend for Georgian Court no matter how you slice it.
• For just the second time in program history, the Lions will play games on back-to-back days. The only other time that happened came at the start of the 2017 season when play played Lock Haven and Bloomsburg.
• Good news for Georgian Court this time around is that game one cannot go to overtime like it did in 2017. That first game against Lock Haven ended in a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes.
• Only twice in program history has Georgian Court started 3-0-0 in the CACC. The last time was in 2018 when they started 7-0. They also accomplished the feat in 2016 as well.
About Felician
• The Golden Falcons were winless in the CACC before the scheduled game last weeked, but Felician got a win earlier this week against Caldwell to improve to 1-0-1 in the league and 2-4-3 overall.
• That conference draw was a 1-1 split at Wilmington who three weeks ago was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, but had fallen out when the two met for their match.
• Of Felician's four losses, three have come by a single goal. Take away a 3-0 loss at #21 SNHU, and the Golden Falcons are just a +1 goal differential.
• Felician had one of the most dramatic comebacks anyone will ever see. Trailing at home to Lock Haven 5-1, Felician scored four goals in the final 2:41 to draw even.
• Bartu Yakkan and Michel Bose have a team-high three goals on the season.
• Felician has had 10 different goal scorers this year. Yakkan and Michel Bose with two are the only ones with multiple goals.
• Mathias Kristofferson has gotten most of the playing time in goal recently. He's started six games with a 1.11 goals against average and .774 save percentage, including the shutout win over Caldwell.
• The Golden Falcons do have a tendency to get over aggressive. Their 23 yellow cards are the third-most in the CACC this season. They're also committing 14 common fouls per game.
About Monroe
• Monroe is in an interesting place this season. They're joining the CACC, but are currently in a schedule alliance with the conference.
• The Mustangs will have a typical CACC schedule, however those games for both the Mustangs and their opponents, will not count towards CACC standings.
• Monroe is still in the provisional stage of joining NCAA Division II from the NJCAA.
• So far this season, Monroe has faired well against Division II competition. They're 3-3-1 overall and 1-1 against CACC opponents.
• The Mustangs most recently lost 4-1 to Post in what was their most lopsided loss of the year. They defeated Holy Family 3-1.
• Monroe has a history of success in men's soccer including 2022 and 2023 NJCAA Division I Championships. Three of their four wins in 2023 in their run to the title came on penalty kicks.
• This year's squad is led by Peterson Aquino who's score six of the team's 17 goals and has 14 points. Jin Yamamoto has scored four times as well.
• There's been a split at the goalkeeper spot where Sinan Sargin has started four times and Thomas Lancaster three.
• Like GCU, the Mustangs have played clean thus far with just 15 yellow cards in seven matches.
