Second Quarter Surge Powers Wilmington Past GCU

WILMINGTON, DE (March 11, 2026) - Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse was in a 2025 Championship rematch Wednesday afternoon at Wilmington. The Lions, last year's conference tournament champions, didn't have such luck on this day as the Wildcats used a nine-goal second quarter to pull away in an 18-4 win.

How it Happened

• They used those extra possessions to hold a 66-14 edge in shots and 36-6 shots on goal.
• Turnovers were another problem for the Lions who lost the ball 25 times. Wilmington turned it over 13.
• The Wildcats nearly doubled up GCU on the ground, 41-21 on ground balls.
• The Lions took five penalties and Wlimington scored twice with the extra man. GCU was 0-2 wit the man-advantage.

1st Quarter
• Things started out well for the Lions. Sebastien Castillo got things rolling with a goal two and a half minutes in off a feed from Drew Barocas.
• Shortly after, GCU made it 2-0 as Jason Sykes found Brodie Seaborn for a goal.
• The Lion defense kept Wilmington off the board for the first seven minutes of the game.
• Then things started to fall apart. The Wildcats got on back right after Seaborn's goal.
• They tied the game with four minutes to play in the period and took a 3-2 lead with 2:42 left.

2nd Quarter
• Wilmington carried that momentum right into the second. They scored two goals in the first 34 seconds and four in the first 3:22.
• That streak of seven straight goals finally came to an end as Castillo scored his second of the game.
• The Wildcats though weren't finished. They closed the half scoring five more and led 12-3 at the break.

3rd Quarter
• The scoring slowed down for the Wildcats in the third quarter.
• Unfortunately for GCU, they were held off the scoreboard too.
• Wilmington made it 13-3 at the 13:27 mark.

Fourth Quarter
• Wilmington rattled off three straight in the first 2:15 to start the final quarter.
