NEW HAVEN, Conn. (August 11, 2026) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer is back on the pitch this summer. As with the start of the season comes the annual Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Coaches Poll. The league announced the results of the poll which sees Georgian Court sitting sixth in the 12-team league.

Last season, Georgian Court was 6-10-1 overall and finished 5-5-1 in league play. After a slow start to the season, the Lions turned things around going 6-1-1 over the final eight regular season games and earning the No. 5 seed in the CACC Tournament. Georgian Court was eliminated in the quarterfinal round by eventual champions Wilmington.

The top spot in the poll goes not to the defending CACC Tournament champions, but defending CACC Regular Season champions, Jefferson. The Rams were awarded 118 points and eight first-place votes. The Wildcats earned one first-place vote and are second in the poll with 95 points. The remaining three first-place votes went to Bridgeport, however the Purple Knights sit fifth in the poll with 88 points. Chestnut Hill, 94 points, and Caldwell, 90 points make up the rest of the top-five ahead of Georgian Court in sixth. 

Four different Lions scored multiple goals last season and three of them are back in 2026. That includes 2025 All-CACC selection and 2024 All-Region selection Chelsea Lavezzo, who shared the team lead with five goals. One of league's top freshmen last year, Erynn Richey, returns after a four goal campaign. She led the Lions with 1,460 minutes played in 2025. Gabby Kelsey scored twice and averaged nearly two points per 90 minutes played. 

Other returning goal-scorers include Delaine Wilkinson, Chiamaka Wokocha, Meghan Moore, Jessie Donnelly and Sophia Lozada. Wilkinson also played the most minutes in goal for Georgian Court last year, making nine starts between the pipes with a 6-3-0 record. 

Georgian Court's 18-game regular season schedule sees them split nine home games and nine road games. Things get started Thursday, August 27 playing in Florida at Nova Southeastern. They'll play two games in the Sunshine State, finishing up at Palm Beach Atlantic Sunday, August 30. Once the calendar turns to September, GCU will get on their home field. The home opener is slated for Saturday, September 5 against Queens. That's the start of three straight home nonconference games that also sees the Lions take on Southern Connecticut and Molloy. 

The conference season opens up Tuesday, September 15 with GCU's fourth straight home game, taking on Bridgeport. In addition to the rest of the CACC opponents, the league is in a scheduling alliance with Monroe. All CACC teams will play the Mustangs this season, however they will not count towards their conference record. The season finishes up with what could be an important game as the Lions are on the road at preseason No. 4 Caldwell Wednesday, October 28.
