Conference Games Up Next for Georgian Court Volleyball

DOBBS FERRY, NY (Sept. 11, 2026) - Georgian Court Volleyball finished up their week playing at ECC foe, Mercy. An NCAA regional qualifier last year, Mercy showed they still are a force in the region with a 3-0 sweep of the Lions.

How it Happened
• The Mavericks had everything working for them. They hit .440 as a team with 42 kills, 11 aces and six blocks.
• Georgian Court struggled from the get-go, hitting .014 with no more than five kills in any of the three sets.
• Mercy averaged nearly 13 digs per set with 38. Georgian Court pulled up 21.
• While Mercy hit 11 aces with eight serve errors, the Lions landed just one ace while hitting seven errors.
Set 1
• Georgian Court's only lead of the set was at 3-2.
• Mercy tied the frame with a kill which sparked an 11-2 run as they jumped ahead 13-5.
• The Lions only two points during that run came on a pair of Mercy serve errors.
• GCU cut the eight-point lead in half, scoring four straight with two blocks.
• Four was as close as Georgian Court got though.
• Mercy finished the set scoring nine of the final 11 points for a 25-14 win.
Set 2
• With the score tied at two, Mercy scored seven straight to take a commanding 9-2 lead and never looked back.
• They pushed the lead to 10, 15-5, before outscoring GCU 10-4 the rest of the way.
• Mercy hit .654 in the set with 17 kills and no errors on 26 attempts.
Set 3
• The Mavericks scored the first five points in set three and never trailed.
• They ran away with the set, leading 8-1 and 15-3.
• Georgian Court never recovered and Mercy won set three 25-9.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Keira Mullen finished with four kills.
• Ava Churnesky scored three with five digs.
• Roshell Chevres Sanchez and Maggy Hallihan each collected six assists.
• Carmen Rivera Colon added five digs.

For the Mavericks
• Mia Illes-Hair hit .833 with 10 kills on 12 attempts without an error. She also added two blocks.
• Adriana Rivera Rodriguez passed out 29 assists with four aces, four blocks and eight digs.
• Stasa Stamenkovic helped out with 10 kills.
• Grace Dilena finished with eight kills and eight digs.

News and Notes
• This was the Lions and Mavericks first meeting since 2018, however it's GCU's fourth straight loss.
• The Mavericks .440 hitting percentage was the highest by a GCU opponent since Missouri-St. Louis hit .516 on Sept. 2, 2016.

• Georgian Court begins CACC play next week. They stay on the road and travel to Jefferson to face the Rams Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 6 pm.
