LAKEWOOD, NJ (Sept. 19, 2026) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer capped a 2-0 week with their best win of the season Saturday afternoon. The Lions hosted 14th ranked Post and after 90 minutes, took down the CACC preseason favorites 1-0 to improve to 4-1-2.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court was back on their heels for much of the afternoon with Post controlling possession at a 2:1 ratio.
• While that did lead to more shots for the Eagles, 11-5, there weren't many high-scoring chances.
• Each team put four shots on goal, and despite the disparity in total shots, the Lions came away with the better scoring opportunities.
• After taking 12 corner kicks in the win against Roberts Wesleyan Wednesday, Georgian Court earned just two Saturday while Post were awarded 10.
• The foul count was even at 10 and each team was addressed four yellow cards.
1st Half
• There was very little action at the outset. The first shot of the game wasn't taken until the 14th minute as Gis van Eif lined up for a free kick.
• This ended up being the best scoring chance for either team in the half as van Eif bent one low towards the far post but Post goalkeeper Francisco Pinochet made a diving save.

Leo Elder found the ball at his feet just outside the 18 moments later and lofted one towards net that Pinochet went up high to grab and keep the game scoreless.
• Georgian Court's defense was the unsung hero all game long. While Post maintained possession, the Lions defense left no holes for clean looks on the net.
• Post didn't take their first shot in the game until the 24th minute. That sailed wide.
• GCU goalkeeper
Lennox Blue Lebelt made two saves in the final 15 minutes of the half, but neither were dangerous chances for the Eagles.
• The two shots by the Lions from van Eif and Elder 39 seconds apart were the Lions only shot attempts of the first half.
2nd Half
• Things picked up in half number two. The pace quickened. The chippiness intensified. And for Georgian Court, their defensed stepped up.
• After a cardless first half, GCU was issued the first just six minutes into the second half.
• In an incredibly intense game, it was an inauspicious build up that led to the game's only goal.

Yanis Achouri caused a turnover at midfield. He passed over to
Leo Elder who took his space and dribbled towards goal in the middle of the field.
• Elder's shot from the top of the box was low and possibly deflected by a Post defender. Either way, the Eagles keeper was late getting over and Elder's shot was tucked into the lower right corner for a goal.
• Post picked up the aggression looking for the equalizer that never came.
• It's usually Post known for their suffocating defense, but this time it was the Lions who didn't allow Post anywhere near the goal.
• Post's best chance of the game came with 2:15 left to play. A cross into the box found the feet of Mirai Sato, but instead of settling it, he tried to one-time the ball out of the air and it sailed over the crossbar.
• The Lions played out the final two minutes without allowing a shot and the clock hit 0:00 on a win.

News and Notes
• This is just the Lions second-ever win over Post. The only other came back in 2019.
• All eight yellow cards shown came in the second half.
• The Lions last win over a ranked opponent came in October of 2021 in a 3-2 overtime win against Wilmington.
• GCU improves to 1-0-1 against ranked opponents this season. They drew 1-1 with #19 Bentley in the season opener.
• Georgian Court's four game-winning goals in their four wins have come from four different players. Elder joins
