LAKEWOOD, NJ (Sept. 23, 2026) - Georgian Court Volleyball suffered another setback Wednesday night at the hands of Holy Family. The Tigers were in charge for much of the match on their way to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-17) sweep as the Lions fall to 0-2 in CACC play this season.

How it Happened
• The big story was on the service line. Holy Family hit 18 aces to Georgian Court's three. Each team hit eight service errors.
• The Tigers hit .217 on offense with the Lions attack percentage at .185.
• Block numbers also favored HFU as they put back four and Georgian Court recording just one block.
1st Set
• The opening set was the closest of the three and featured five of the six tie scores and the only lead change in the match.
• That lead change occurred early when the Tigers took a 4-3 lead after trailing 3-2. 
• Holy Family then went up by as much as six, 12-6 before Georgian Court started to come back.
• On a few occasions, Georgian Court got to within one before the Tigers pulled ahead. The Lions finally tied the score at 17 with a 3-0 run getting two kills from Keira Mullen and one from Ava Churnesky. 
• The Tigers responded though scoring four straight and ended the game on an 8-4 run to take the opener 25-21. 
2nd Set
• After Holy Family went up 13-8, Georgian Court never brought the Tigers lead back under five.
• The Tigers never trailed in the set helped out by seven GCU attack errors and four service errors.
• The teams traded points down the stretch but the Tigers made it a 2-0 game with a 25-17 win.
3rd Set
• Holy Family scored the first five points in the set before the Lions got on the board and it only got worse from there.
• The Tigers jumped out to a 14-3 lead, landing six aces in the process.
• While it looked like it would be an easy win for HFU from there, the Lions rallied. GCU scored seven straight to get back to within four, 14-10.
• GCU cut the lead to as little as two, 15-12, but Holy Family answered with four straight for a 19-12 lead.
• Even though the Lions scored five of the final seven points with five kills, the hole they dug themselves early was too big to climb out of and the Tigers finished off the Lions 25-19.

Lion Stat Leaders
• Keira Mullen hit .357 with 14 kills and eight digs.
• Flavia Pecora also hit .357 with seven kills.
• Roshell Chevres Sanchez passed out 27 assists with six digs.
• Carmen Rivera Colon picked up 12 digs and two service aces.

For the Tigers
• Mackenzie Layton totaled 14 points with 11 kills, an ace and two blocks along with five digs.
• Mia Wise collected 24 assists and eight digs.
• Abby Bachman landed five service aces.

News and Notes
• Keira Mullen surpassed 100 points this season.
• This is the first time since 2023 Holy Family defeated the Lions in Lakewood.
• Holy Family's 18 service aces are the most Georgian Court has allowed in a match since November of 2024 which was also against Holy Family. However that came in five sets.
